This is for you fellas far enough north to have a problem with freezing. How do yall water your dogs in the winter and keep from freezing?

I've heard of people taking water and boiling it before a hunt pour it in gallon jugs...
and by the time the dogs need water it will be warm not hot.
it will keep em hydrated and keep there core body temp up vs. cold water

If you put water in a cooler at room temp. The cooler works the opposite as down south and it takes longer to freeze. Depending on the outside temp it can last for a day or two.

When I go deer hunting up north...........you can't leave your beer outside or it will freeze and bust your cans.  Cry

I know what you mean. I have to run my hose down hill so all the water drains out, but I live in the mtns.

i asked the same question on here around this time last year and some guy told me about this thing you can buy that slips down in the bucket or whatever u put water in that will keep it from freezing. i just cant remember what he called it now though. i just put stuff that floats in mine nd the wind will usually keep the water moving and it wont freeze unless it gets real cold out. i only had to bust ice a few times last year.

Put a good adjustable spray nozzle on it and leave it cracked open just a tad bit.
Dry as it is everywhere it'll help in 2 ways. Just move it around every afternoon.
Also, makes for some cool ice sculptures if you hang it in a tree.

Also, my dogs each have 25 gallon tubs, can always bust ice for a few days straight without refilling.
Last winter it stayed single digit here for 11 days. That was rough.
The dogs learned that as soon as ice was broke they best be getting a drink quickly.
It sucked! Worst winter I remember.
