haven't read all the post but a friend of mine bred a prison bloodhound with a bmc and he kept a solid reddish gold pup that looked like a visla crossed with redbone. he was a hog finding machine. bred this dog to another cur and got about the same identical type dog. he couldn't hunt them together because they would run 1 for many miles and stay gone forever.

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog... A hunting dog is born not made...

This is getting off of the topic but the state does have some of the finest horses I have ever been on or seen. The only problem with the ones I was around on Hightower was they were never shot over,we had an inmate run from the fields and when the field boss fired the warning shot it was rodeo time for him,by the time he got the horse calmed down the inmate was already in the bush.

Knowing the city and county I could see them paying 40k for a dog. When I was young my Dad bought and working a dog for drugs and SAR. It was for the city of Groves. When the training was done the dog went to a guy at the jails in Beaumont. The dog was king there from what we heard. Took no sh it and found drugs like it was going out of style. Dog got out and was hit by a car. Buford was his name.
I am sure some prisons have better dogs then others.
Will, Thanks for all you do. Dont like bull and Knight bring you down.

I know how to shake a dog. Just don't need to educate nobody on that. If you have got dogs after you and don't want to be found then don't call me. But it would be fun to hide for fun and give them a chance. I just want to make sure I am where they can't put a mouth on me.

We need a new series where the state of texas mantracking dogs compete again each other while being filmed, has the state of texas prsion system ever held any kind of competive event in its system to see what unit has the best dogs in mantrailing?/ Other states have events somebody posted in this thread?? Would be easy to get on a large property and have somebody lay a trail and see if the dogs made a lose or a find while the runner is sitting in a tree watching them track in a 2000 acre oat patch with some trees, that way could see when they track and see what dog is doing all of the work, next pack could track another runner with the dogs have a cam on them to see them tracking?? Ought to make it interesting and reward the runner aka the track layer $5000 if he could wreck the dogs with tricks, the prison system would have to donate the money if it won to charity, how do they run competive events in mantracking in other states than texas?/ Anybody know??
