Saturday night w-tate called to make a round. He had a land owner contact him on some hogs rooting up his wheat. He brought Duke, Rooney, and Jake and Bandit to catch, I brought one dog Gus. We turned out after dark and made a round in the first field. Dogs struck and took off, bayed up almost 1 mile away. Big hog must of ran through some little ones when I got there they had a little one stretched out. Went to the next field, saw some old sign, nothing in their hog traps. Got to the next field, we had a strong breeze into our face. Rooney and Bandit winded a pig from the top of the ranger. We put down Rooney, Duke and Gus and they go in about 900 yards and had him bayed solid for 30 minutes or so. We cut the catch dogs loose at about 150 yards, hog broke right at us. I saw blinking collars coming right for me, shined my light and that pig flew by be about 10 yards away. Jake passes the whole pack, runs right up beside this boar, grabs an ear and is trying to swing him around. They get him caught solid in a creek with a little water in it. Me and w-tate get him flipped and tied. He was a stout one, broke mule tape twice and a set of new hobbles. Sunday morning he walked across the buyers scales at 300lbs even. Happy land owner, happy hunters!
