I need to locate a few bison/buffalo calves before the end of the year.   Any thoughts on the best place to locate some within about 300 miles of Houston?  What should I expect to pay for calves in the 2-400# range?

You are not going to like the price at Raz. We are paying 1k-1200 for mature cows. I would think in the 350-500 range for some healthy ones. Cheaper for some that need hay.

Thanks yall.

If I don't find any in time, I'll go to the December sale at Harper.

Savoy,
If you run across any, please keep me in mind. I don't mind driving out to central Texas to pick them up.

Thanks.

Depending on the price and availability, I am interested in anything between 2-10 head. Mandi wants then to use for cutting practice. I'll either integrate a few in with her pen of heifers, or I'll relocate the heifers and she can just cut the bison until the grow or sour.

I can see it now, yall on the 5 oclock news in the middle of Red Bluff trying to drag a rougue buffalo into the catch trailer after it has torn down half the fences in Lomax and hooked all your horses haha

Matt, Pipe and panel fence at home, I think it will hold them. Won't have any buff on the red bluff pasture... Went out to feed last night and had one of my favorite girls on the wrong side of the fence, cruising around inside a chemical plant,AGAIN.... Juan and Jaime are about to put down the barn building tools, and pick up the fencing tools. Hopefully that will keep the girls on the right side.

The whicita mountains wildlife reserve has a bison auction once a year if not more but they had a huge fire this year and some of them are starving. They may be willing to get rid of some cheap. ITs in Lawton oklahoma.
