i start my pups around 12 mnth just riding the hood and i snap them to the hood im teaching them to ride. after couple wks you can un snap them and they will ride with the old dogs. as time goes by they learn from ol dogs. i like to hood hunt because i cover more ground and save the dogs energy. plus all my places to hunt you can drive and i dont want to walk my dogs cause im a bit lazy.

but the way i do it works for me, it just takes time

Could you tie a dog to the top of your dog box an do the same thing as the hood? I had a dog that would bark in the box an if you turned her out she'd be on a trail.

Mr. Bennet does your dogs jump off the hood when they smell sent are hows that work? Thanks

You can put the pup on a pen hog a few times If the dog is baying pretty good in the pen I would not keep putting him in there myself. Put the pup in the woods with an older trained dog an find a few hogs. If your pup has it in him an he's MATURE anuff He'll start working for you an get better an better all the time.
