I spoke with a rep on the phone the other day , when I was thinking of tradiing in my e collars for something better . Didnt get into great detail , but he said he has used this unit some and was getting 5 miles of range in wooded areas . Dont know how true that was for sure . He said you could mark different points on it . It just doesnt have all the graphics like the astro . I had good luck with the e collars I bought years ago . If it would get the range that the rep said he got I would like to have it . I have a number I will try to find in a day or two and post for you and they can give you the low down on it .

I just read through the instructions of the sportdog and through the features... it appears it does not have the map function like the garmin does. In my situation I feel I NEED the map, just the other day we were hunting and by looking at the garmin you could tell the dogs were tracking out real close to a major highway and we were able to watch closely and go to the dogs before they got into trouble. the only way i would even think about trying one is if it had the map. just my two cents get a garmin and tritronics
