I want to start by saying thank yall to the ETHD family for all the prayers and thoughts, I really appreciate it and I have really needed it.
As most of you know, Soco didn’t make it. He somehow made it back to the house and Lindsay spotted him at the fence on Sunday afternoon. He was tore up bad and we rushed him to the vet. He had a rib that was broke in half, punctured lung, was cut up worse than any living dog I have ever seen in the front on his shoulders and neck. We got him on oxygen and fluids and the doctor went to work. Soco took over 100 stitches and still had plenty of room for the wounds to drain, just to give yall an idea of how bad it was. After getting him fixed up, his body just couldn’t hold on. He had been in shock for a long time (Goin on 24 hours) and his kidneys gave out.
Soco, was more than a hunting dog to me. I raised him from a pup and pushed him to the limit and he continued to amaze me. He was my housedog and my little buddy that went everywhere with me. I swear that dog could read my mind. He has been with me through a lot and got me through a lot of tough times including the passing of my mom (his original vet), along with many other things. No mater what I did or how I acted, that dog loved me and was always there to cheer me up when I was down. This has been pretty hard for me and there isn’t much I wouldn’t do to have ol Soco back. It has been a huge loss to my pack and to me personally. One of the hardest things about it is that you don’t expect them to end up dead when you put them in the pen for the night, and it kills me that I couldn’t do more for him. Im glad he mad it back to me and we were able to spend his last few hours together. He caught many good boars in his life and lived over four good years of solid hunting. Im glad he went out doing what he loved, although I wish I could have been there to help. He is truly missed and will never be able to be replaced.
R.I.P. Soco

Taylor I hate to think how your feeling right now, my thoughts and prayers are with you. They are dogs but there are a few that are a lot more than that.

Bad deal for sure. Never had the opportunity to hunt behind soco, but can appreciate what he meant to you. Its hard to lose any dog, but losing a special dog is like losing a close family member.
RIP Soco
