I agree with that & partially disagree with that. I don't care if it's the best strike dog in the world, if it's ugly I'm not gonna feed it   If its a consistently good strike dog ( especially the best strike dog in the world ), ill hunt it even if it looks like a CATAHOULA!!!  Your on a dang catahoula rant today huh Tbank? To bad your ole Molly dog is half catahoula!  |

it don't make no differance with or without a picture . pictures do sell better . i don't know how many times i've had dogs for sale and everybody that called would ask [what do they look like ? ] and all i would tell them is they look like friggin hog dogs  . and i don't put much store in a man thats more concerned with looks than ability thats what ruint most huntin breeds , breeding for looks and color and not the hunt . the catahoulas took a big hit because of people prefering them damn glass eyes . and so on and so on . |

X2...good example is the mtn cur...some look like feist and others look like hounds...They do say a pic is worth a thousand words... Halfbreed...i do see your point...all we need to do is look at the akc champion dogs. |

I guess some people missed the reason the first post on why he said it would be a good idea to post a picture, it was aimed at dog thieves trying to sell a stolen dog, he never mentioned about trying to sell a dog because of its looks.

i understand what you are saying just answering some differant post in here . and NO it wont stop a dog thief because they are the lowest form of thief. there are too many other options to sell stolen merchandise and dogs flea mkts, craigs list and many more .your best option to stop a thief is freeze branding and tattoes or micro chipping . and if i might add all that hasn't stopped them yet . it ain't nearly as bad now as it was years ago when furs was still worth something back before the www. it's like the pawn shops a thief doesn't use a pawn shop to get rid of stolen merchandise after managing one for 10 years i can tell you that for sure . and no dog thief will post a dog for sale on the same board as a missing or stolen dog is listed . think about it most thiefs ain't stupid there just low bred . and from experiance when a dog is stolen it is by somebody that knows you or your dogs and they ain't about to try and get rid of it in the same circle or on the same site you frequent .

I think every "for sale" ad should have a picture, truck, horse/hog/dog trailer or box, gun, tracking system, etc.
After all, I see an interesting ad, 1st thing I do is text asking for pics.
Would also help reduce the "tire kickers".

ok the point is the try and deter dog theives from selling the stolen dogs. if the dog was stolen, and then since the moderators agreed to make pics mandatory, then the chances of finding the stolen dog is slim to none. they can just post on another site and dump the dog then. its a good, but bad idea at the same time. it has its pros and cons.

if i still had a computer i would love this idea but now just get on with my phone which isnt a smart phone and there isnt a way to upload. But i am always willin to text pics. Now if i had a phone that would upload then i would love for this to be put in place

true...even tho i did say minimum requirement...got lots of variation out there...
What would be considered " minimum " ?? Will find and bay a hog?? If i walk hunt im not going to go out and buy a hood dog.... It might be the best rig dog in the country but if he wont leave my feet on the ground he almost worthless... You definitely cant say its a hog dog because it will " bay a hog " ... A Catahoula will bay a hog all day in a pen, but they sure aint no hog dogs!!!!!  I have to agree with the other part until the statement was made a Catahoula isnt a hog dog, come visit me in east texas ill put u on sum hogs with one catahoula no help dogs, and she will find bay and catch her own hog time and time again! |
