The dog may do great, but the chances of finding a dog that is of the same caliber is gonna be against you.  The dog also may not reproduce himself well and you just spent alot of time and money on nothing.  Lots of people talk about starting lines but few truly know what it takes. It takes lots of time, patience and money because you'll be keeping a lot of puppies to cull through. Not to mention you might get 4-5 years down the road and realize this ain't what you had in mind regarding how the dogs are turning out vs the cull ratio, then your back to square one.

In the end it boils down to what you want and how hard you're wanting to work for it.

x2...not only the above mentioned but there won't be many if any bloodlines out there for that matter...bloodlines out  of the breed you are using to breed up a line of hog dogs...lets say you breed labradors for hogs and you need new blood to freshen up your line and then you will find that you are the only breeder of labs for hogs... this means you would need quite a few dogs in the yard to develop a good line...if you were breeding BMC's it wouldn't be a problem...you would only have to decide which strain to use...

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog...
