As a kid i had a rem 788 chambered in 223. I nvr hunted for horns since i couldnt eat them, but my dad said to make a neck shot. Iv killed many a deer by putin that little round high in the neck. High not meanin near the head, but high being close to the spinal cord. The shock from the bullet will disable any white or mullie, but not sure for elk. Them .50s r nice but in reality, impractible for killin game, just spendin $5-7 for every hammer drop

I'll throw in my take on the 6.8 vs 5.56 debate. 5.56 is more than capable of taking hogs. When you are hunting in lights, you are on the move, the hogs are on the move a hog can soak up alot of .223/ 5.56 bullets if they are not placed perfectly. The 6.8 gives you a little bit more cushion on a less than perfect shot. I have a .223/ 5.56 RRA AR also and shoot alot of hogs with it also. When it comes down to it hunting the grain fields night after night with lights. I will recover more dead hogs with the 6.8.

This boys, is my little hog rifle......M1 carbine made in 1943....synthetic stock, open sights and 5 round magazine. It shoots a 110 grain soft point bullet and has killed more hogs than I can count. It has killed 'em from 5 lbs. to over 350 with one shot. Sweeeeeet little rifle. Had it for about 13 years I guess. It's short, light and you can shoot it like a pistol if need be. I love this little gun,.....I reckon that the 'magnumitis' that some folks have just never jumped on me. This cartridge will not shoot through a hog sideways if it's over 50 or 60 lbs. Doesn't bother our dogs with too much muzzle blast and sooooo much safer than some of the cannons that folks seem to like.

Ive got a few guns i like, no offense guys but im not going t post any pics of them for a ouple reasons.  I like my taurus 454, im def a 1911 guy, and noah, ive got a "Super Sniper" 10x on my rem pss.  Cant say enough about the thing, and for only 3 or 4 hundred when i bought it, it has definately held up..

Been looking at some high end Leupolds that have the recticle calibrated to the cartridge...  High magnification for $1000-1500... That's the best I've seen for what I want

I was looking at the Leupold Mark III i think it was, then abuddy showed me the SS from SWFA.  It may not be a thousand dollar scope but ive had someguys wth Class III licenses and more money than sense buy them after looking at mine.  Yo cant buy them anywhere but from SWFA which is why they are cheap..  Hell if i ever got invited to hunt i could bring it with me..  Cheesy

Noah, iv got a leupold 4.5-14x50mm mkIV m1 tactical setin on top of an M-40A1 USMC sniper rifle. It is 1 of the clearest set of optics iv used even for my othr leupolds. I was cuttin my same bullet holes at 100yds, but not sure bout now. I thnk i killed to many brain cells by now to even do it again.

This is a dandy rifle for me.  Sig SHR 970.  I have 30-06 & 25-06 barrels for this gun ( interchangeable ) .  I have shot about 20 rounds thru the 30-06 barrel and hundreds thru the 25-06.  Deadly medicine on whitetails...

I dont have any pics but I use a Mossberg ATR 100 in .270 with a centerpoint 4x16x40mm scope. Shoots 1" groups at 100 yrds with hornady factory ammo.  I have killed hundreds of hogs and a few deer with this gun.  My wife calls it my mistress.  Doesn't get used as much now that I am running dogs.

Only pic I got that show the gun, Savage 110a 30.06 /Zeus 44x12, I been downing deer with this gun for 17 yr.'s. Took deer in pic at 275yds I've taken deer at 370yds, it will shoot 1 1/2 in. groups at 200yrds and 2 1/2 in. Groups at 380yrds constantly with 150gr hornandy balistic tip ammo. Bullets start to tumble after 380yrds. I don't have a pic but I bought a rock island 1911a 45cal. Compact w/3.5 in barrel. It was inexpensive and I didn't expect much 375.00$ but I've shot over 500 rounds of reloads without a jam, 2 misfires (cheap ammo) and it more accurate than my kimber full size 1911, and now my favorite hand gun.
