I discovered this product almost a year ago and have sworn by it since after the first cut dog I used it on. Well Thursday of this week I got to put it to a new test. I was castrating three lil boars before putting them out in the feed pen, after a finished the first barr, I went to cut the rope off his feet to release him into the pen. As I was cutting loose the last hoof the boar kicked the rope sliced and the knife blade slipped into my forearm. Luckily I use an incredibly sharp and small pocket knife. I ended up pinching the wound and hollering for my helper to come get the now untied hog and throw him in the pen for me. Skipping thru all the emergency first aid I eventually went home and sprayed it down with vetericyn and bandaged it to see how effective the treatment I've been giving the dogs really is. It is now day 3 & I will already feel safe to say this stuff works!!
day 1

day 2
day 3

Very fast healing and I like how the muscle seems to be healing first from the inside out. I am anxious to see how quickly this heals and how much scarring occurs.

Someone posted that vetericyn was about the same as some kinda mix.  They used bleach and water and maybe something else.  I'd like to find that recipe and compare the two.  Seems like with dogs who don't realize they are cur dogs and not bull dogs, I go through alot.

On a side note, I'm waiting to cut myself pretty good so I can try the cayenne pepper deal I was reading about on here.  I didn't realize how handy that stuff was tip halfbreed posted that link to it.  Stops hemorrhaging and clots blood super quick.  Who woulda thunk it  Cheesy

Tbob,
For research purposes we really need you to cut yourself twice. Treat one wound with vetericyn, the other with your basic neosporin or some other otc item. Then post up some before and after pics.

Liquid gold IMO. Cward told me about it and since then the cutnheal stays on the shelf. Sounds like the neosporin needs to join it

I swear by bleach / water mixture, I flush everything with it and it is basically the home made version of Veterycin.  I had bought a bottle after reading on here and when reading the ingredients I told my husband that it was nothing more than an expensive mixture of what I use.

I slipped it in on my husband's leg and it kept all the infection that the doctors were worried about away.  When I cut myself I get a qtip with some bleach and dobb it on the cut, it stings but the soreness will be gone.

It is great stuff (and cheap)! Grin

We caught a sow last year and the dog bayed her in the wallow it was a muddy mess and in the process I got an eye full of mud with in two days I was at the ER  with my I swollen shut I use the med's they gave my for ten day the I was better be still swollen and would be crusted shut every morning. I had been using vetericyn on cut for awhile already and I went to get feed and seen they made a product for horse/cattle eye infections, SO I was like WTH and after one treatment a day for three day my eye was fine swelling gone and no more crusty eye in the morning. I get small nicks on my hands a t work all the time and with all the grease and fuel there's no keeping a bandage on so I use the vetericyn there as well and busted knuckles don't get red and sore they seem to heal from the inside out.

I'm going to compare the two.  My bulldog acts like the vetericyn burns, she's jumpy and doesn't like it, but will stand for a waterhose. It maybe the spray or pressure when I squirt in it.

I personally wouldn't put either in my eye, but the bleach / water does not sting...I prefer straight bleach on myself (it is no worse of a tingle than Peroxide but applicated by q-tip) however I dilute it for everything/one else and the dogs show no sign of irritation like it is stinging nor did my husband when I snuck it in his wash water for his wound.

When I use vetericyn in my eye felt just like water or any other eye drop no burn or stinging and my eye looked BAD, and was 90% better the next morning.

Vetricyn ad says it safe enough to use in your eyes and when I got an scrath in my eye I tested it. I use in my animals eyes after reading all the data put out saying to be safe. I am not putting bleach in my eye though.

no it dont, burn just like water.

Peroxide will destroy new tissue growth preventing and retarding wound closure after initial use
