I am no pro, nor a know it it all or anything of the sort, but the more real great big hogs I catch the more I'm becoming skeptical of all these stories about 3-4-500 pound monster hogs. I even saw one in person just a few weeks back who made my starfish pucker but was told by some young fellas that he's 700pounds. He is a phenomenal hog and I WILL catch him soon, but wouldn't guess him more then 325 pounds or so. What I'm getting at is, is this phenom a result of inexperience with domestics of true heavy stature, a desire to have the next hogzilla or what?? If you have photo evidence of various hogs over say 300, please proceed to post pics so that the rest of us may see what proportions a truley big hog has Don't be trying no tricky photography either now!i already know them tricks

344# on a scale The same hog, tied. 307# or 315#. I can't remember exactly, but he was just a hair over 300# Same hog, different view. Same hog 406#, brought in to a hunting tournament by the Leupold's from Halletsville, TX. Same hog,

Here's another pic of the Leupold's hog, Only scale pic would be at the tournament. You know, As I was looking over old posts trying to find "PROOF", I realize how hard it is to get a good pic of a big hog, on a scale clearly showing the weight. Additionally, I don't know anyone that uses certified scales, other than the hogs being carried into the buying stations. We have always used a cheap Academy scale. So the scale weight shown is also suspect. Here are some more pics, yet none of them are PROOF...

Yeah Chris I agree that scars aren't exact proof, but at the same time, pics like a tailgate, four wheeler, man touching or standing next to, or really any known object helps with perspective. Im not coming about this rudely I hope, just wanting for younger hunters to see some truly good hogs with more accurate estimates of their real weights. I don't like hearing stories of 30 point bucks, 1000 pounds feral hogs or east Texas girls who've never squatted in a bar parking lot

Been hunting a long time and I myself have only caught a handfull of over 300 and I have only seen a few that were caught by others in person 300 and over. I can see hogs 300-350 I can even believe 400 but they are few and far between and over that 500, 600 and up I gotta see them myself on the scale to believe it aint saying it cant happen but no pic and no pic with a scale is gonna make me believe it till I can see it in person and see the scale zero out before with no gemicks .

I can't explain it, but I look at a 200+# domestic, and it looks like a 125# feral to me. I could never guess the weight on a domestic and be close. However, after weighing so many ferals, I can usually guess within about 10%. I have done the "guess the weight" drill so many times, that you can tell right away the people that don't ever actually weigh a hog. If you ask a deer hunter the weight of a hog, you can usually cut their guess in half. Not sure why, but it's been my experience.

http://wwtworldrecords.com/records/barr/frbarrw772pt38.jpg420lbs Barr Oficially weighed and scored. No trickery just a photo of the hog. This is right up there at the upper limit of how big hogs can get in the wild. Stories of 500 and 600 lbers are almost certainly bogus for sure..............Or a domestic hog. Waylon

Sorry, no scale pics, but the hog was on the buyers scale at 360, but the head and feet wouldn't get off the gates... so we guessed it was little over 400.

Perspective lesson, I was standing 10 foot away. Not even touching that pig. That one weighed 6 pounds on a fish scale
