You should already know after this comment you posted on the hound thread " well i have to say the only hound ill hunt is a silent plott the rest are made for treeing and the last i remember hogs don't climb tree's I live on the oklahoma tx border hwy 75 we don't have near as many hogs as you guys do and are hogs run around here but a trail barking hound don't do the trick for us cause the more they bark the further them hogs run they don't go up a tree like a bear or cat so ill stick with my 1/4 plott and 3/4 cur or catahoula's but nothing can beat a good ol cur dog.

Well since this post has been read over 200 times with only two replys Ill chime in on the research Ive done on the breed. The cur dog as far as all evidence implys was organally created by a mixture of spanish dogs brought to this cntry by the conquistidores, which then breed with domesticated indian dogs that also interbred with wild k9s(coyotes) hanging around the outscirts of homsteads and encampments. All the while they were being used as hunters and workers by colonials and then cowboys. By the time the cowboys started usein em the breeding process was pretty simple. The only dogs alive to breed were the ones that worked and hunted well enough to eat and not get a bullet. Thus giving us the breed we all know now of the loyal, brave, strong purely American Bmc<Catahoula<Kemmer<Mntn<Florida CUR DOGS..... Hope that suits ya

Cur as slang refers to a type of random-bred, or mixed-breed dog that is off of wikipedia
