They are Belgium Malinois I always describe them as a German Sheppard on meth. These two are only 7 months now and it was there first time in woods. They have been in the bay pen twice both resulting in a catch and a wooded pen once with a catch. Wasn’t sure what they would turn into so I'm pretty much letting them do whatever comes natural and tune it up later. They both used a lot of nose in the wooded pen so I'm thinking they should do well.
My Jagds struck the hogs. A good RCD I got from south Texas (“Poncho” from Txhogman22) caught the hog the mals were on but they rolled out at the sound of the bay and were both latched down when I got there so I say they helped catch one. Left them behind with the first one we killed to make their first hunt all positive and they didn’t chew em up much just ate its eyes out… evil little buggers.

Hope the Mals work out for you. I was involved with them and GSDs before i got involved in hog dogs. I have always thought that those dogs could have a use in hog hunting as a RCD or straight up catch dog. Especially like the Mals. I always described them as Shepherds on crack, so I know what you mean. And I hope to still try one out some day down the road when I get more hunting experience.

Got them both from Metropolitan K9 http://metropolitank9.com/ Metropolitan competes in PSA (Protection Sport Association) consistently earning national titles and they use the sport as a breed test to produce extremely driven working dogs. MUCH higher maintenance than traditional hunting dogs but I like em.
