I know a guy hat uses them they are pretty dang good dogs I think. His bay dogs let out one yap or bark or anything and he's sending them no matter how far and they're caught hard whenever he gets there I wouldn't mind feeding a few

bird/bulls are really popular in Georgia. A good gamey pit to a well bred pointer will almost always produce hog dogs. EP/pit is the most popular followed by GSP/pit. I have a Brittany Spaniel/ Pit cross that has an unbelievable nose. Alway been an outstanding winding type dog but last year he started trailing hogs. Trailed several runners a 1000 yards and bayed them up. I have seen some EP/pit crosses that trail better than a lot of curs. Bird/bulls usually have tons of hunt, fairly gritty to straight catch, lots of stamina, and of course a really good nose. If you don't have access to good hunting curs, breed a gamey pit to good pointer and you'll have hog dogs. Lotta people also prefer 1/4 bird 3/4 pit for a very rough shorter range dog.

Thank's BuddyLee, I have three of the gamest bred pit's on earth! Cottingham blood. I bred my stud dog Boondock to the best pure Boudreaux gyp I could aquire, and kept the best female out of the litter and bred her back to him, and kept the pick male out of that breeding. Anyway, this is a hog dog forum, and I believe my Pit's will make excellent catch dog's. I am living in Lagrange Georgia, I thought that I would be moving back out west real soon, however, I found out yesterday that isn't the case. Could you get me in touch with any hog hunters in the area?, I am dying to try out my Pit's on some hogs!.

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog... A hunting dog is born not made...

Hey guys, just got back from G.A. And read this post. Me and a buddy spent a few days hunting with Mr.Steve Parker in Covington. We took our bird/bulls down for some fun. We ended up catching 34 hogs while there. Mr. Parker who is a legend there said our bird/bulls were the type of dogs thayt stories are qritten about ! Talk about feelin proud ! To hear an authority tell me that was some kinda awseome ! Me and Niks dogs that another guy on here said couldn't get it done, bayed and caught their butts off consistently!! My puppy bayed 2 by herself and caught with the others. These dogs are 3/4 english. Bird and 1/4 pitt. Mine is long range hunt all day windin machine ! Easy handlin Joe ! I love em so much, gotta get ya some !

You can contact me at (706)407-6757, my cell# is (208)477-8907, but its not working right now. Thank You and keep up the good work!.

I'm about to breed this gyp to a pit RCD and find out myself, I've been interested in that cross for a while myself, with that cross they are bound to have the hunt and gritt plus some winding ability

This is a bird/bull that I used for a short period.. Good stamina, straight catch, caught ear and locked on, and good temperament... We mostly walk hunt or take wheelers.. What i didnt like was that if they were on a runner or took a track pretty far out, he had enough bottom to stick with them further than what I cared for.... I didnt care for him to get out real far and be caught a long period of time... Even on wheelers, our places are thick enough that it still takes a while to get to them... Sold him to a buddy that wanted him for when he hunted off horses... He would also get out by himself and try to hunt..

Trenton- Would that dog be trying to stop a running hog or would he just run behind it? and would he ever bay, say at really big hogs or just try to catch? Fine looking dog by the way, hope mine are built like that.

When I first put him on hogs, he barked a couple times and got rough... After a few hogs, he was straight catch... I dont guess we caught any huge hogs with him, so im not sure if a big hog would back him up or not... The hog in the pic was the first decent sized hog he caught on his own and it was around 175 or so if i remember right.. That hog bayed for a second and broke, and he ran him down and caught him before he got too far.. If he was there or could get there, he caught... I ran him with a Uglydog Devestator, and most of our places are thick.. So if they got on a sure enough runner, sometimes he would get left.. For the hogs that bay-break-bay-break, he was awesome.. the ones that run and run, well that just depends... He isnt the most experienced dog, but he was learning and doing the job well, but a RCD just wasnt for me..

I wish our runners only went 1000 yards and bayed up... Just giving an example. Lotta hogs here go much farther and a lot of bird/bulls will trail much farther.
