Its such a great feeling when pups that you bred out of your own stock turn out the way you hoped they would.

The pups out of our Foot and Sweetpea breeding are 18 months now. We kept three. Camo, Penny, and Buckshot. They will all get out and hunt and have been on numerous hogs now. They all three have their strenths and weaknesses but Camo is shaping up to be kind of dog that really stands out.

Camo will go hunt on his own, has lots of drive and is rangey.

Last night he impressed me. He struck his own hog and then when we got to the hog I asked the dogs to get ahead and the older dogs stayed behind but Camo rolled out!  Grin The other pup, Buckshot went with him. The youngsters were shinning last night. We didn't have Penny with us because she is in heat right now.

These pups are the start of my breeding program and I couldn't be more pleased. They all have a long ways to go before proving that they are worthy of being bred but so far they are off to a good start.

I love working young dogs more than any other aspect of the sport.  It's rewarding to say the least.

Thanks everyone. Im sure its boring reading about someone elses dogs but I was busting at the seams.  Grin

Yes, it is very rewarding and fun to work young dogs. They have also taught me a lot along the way. I have way more patience now.

Plus I have learned that dogs are still pups at a year old and still have several years before they reach full working dog status.  Smiley
