i don't have first hand experience but I've read out west some big game guys tried them and didn't care for them. You didn't ask this but I'd try to steer you to a Wildlife, Johnson, or quick track system myself.

God Bless,Waylon.

Mn 10 or mns 40 from ll electronics is nice. Not to big, no bullchit gadgets and very reliable..I used this system for many years...lots of bear hunters were using them at one time...have friends that use them and they seem to always work...

Ill look in to wildlife and all the rest of the telemetry systems, these garmins are nice but i work on boats so i deal with gps on a daily basis. Are gsps dont lose signal and i know the circumstances are different but i think with the way technolgy is the collars and unit should work alot better jmo.

Zaneo,

I've personally used them all. Without a shadow of a doubt, Marshall is the finest telemetry equipment available for dog hunters. Any specific questions, PM me for a phone #.    Wink

I've got an I-com RC 10, $400 for box, directional anti. And carrying case. Will track any collar. Its a supped up scanner basically. You can listen to the , radio, airplanes.........just program it in. Some of the best money ive spent.

I have always heard that is what most of the lion and bear hunters use because of reliability.

Also some of them use Johnson brand tracking  systems.

I have a Wildlife TRX-10 system that works very well every time. If you get a set of head phones you can zero in on the dog a little better.

Just to know Josh what makes you so boldly positive on that.

I seen hundreds of Johnson and Wildlifes in the field but only read about Marshall. Maybe there to pricy but no one around here uses them.

Waylon,

I've personally used or owned and used them all.  After my friends saw the difference in my Marshall 4000, they upgraded themselves. The Power Max collars are digital. They can be changed to any frequency if you ever deside to get a different box.  The box itself fits in a very small pouch, and is super accurate. Distance wise, it will exceed even a Wildlife 1000 box. The accuracy is unmatched.  As I posted, for serious questions, PM me for my #. I will be happy to assist.

I am not blowing smoke, they are that good.

Whatever telemetry system you are currently using, it can be improved by using Marshall's PowerMax collars. The extra range they will give you is worth the extra money. Take the best beeping collar you currently own and hang it on a limb. Place a Marshall collar on the limb next to it while both are turned on. If tuned correctly, and your box tracks both #'s, you will see more than 1/2 mile difference on the better side with the Marshall collar. That is fact. Not my opinion, but straight fact. I have seen them get several miles better than other brands. Test for yourself.

Josh is telling the truth about the Marshall collars. They are much stronger. But it makes it difficult to tell how close they are. They are so strong, that you will think you are standing on the collar, but may be couple hundred yards away. I didnt like them for that reason, but they do get better long range.
Never seen the Marshall box tho.

With any type of technology, you have to familiarize yourself with the equipment in order to reap the full rewards it offers.  Run plenty of tests concerning range (high side, medium, and low side), and you will learn quickly what the limits are. Very nice equipment for those that are willing to try something new.

We have used Quick Track for many years and was convinced it was the best untill we tried some Marshall colars. The range is the best I've seen out of all the systems I've seen used.

Not really.  I will agree with the part about "use what suits you" though.

As for the comparison, well I disagree.  From my perspective, hound vs. cur is personal preference determined mostly by hunting conditions.  However, when discussing Marshall tracking equipment vs other brands, the results are set or predetermined shall we say.  Marshall will out preform the competition consistantly.  Again, not my opinion, but simply the facts.  I've done enough tests with them to state that boldly.   Wink
