Took the dogs out for a run last night, and ten minutes out my old man Bays up. A buddy's young dog (who has found more than his fair share) get their and starts bayin right along with mine... We both look at each other with this OH crap its a big one look and the only reason for that is its about 10 acres of stright palmettos. Garmin says they are 100 yards in so here we go, crashin through. Get within 50 which took about five minutes and it goes quite. Two minutes later they are a hundred out again and bayed.. this goes on for an hour then nothin. Buddy who was holdin the truck and cooler down calls my phone and asks what were doin in their since the dogs were back at the truck.. Took us another 30 minutes to get back to the truck, and needless to say, even with long britches and boots, my legs are cut to heck and back... Oh well good time with good friends and got to hear a few bays.. next time i hope that sucker is dumb enough to run into the orange grove instead of the palmettos!

Yeah buddy, good times To catch hogs in bad stuff like that consistently, you've about got to hunt a little reckless... accepting the probability of damage to your dogs... i.e. ROUGH dogs/sending a small/fast CD in from a ways out(without a vest so he can weasle in quick)... none of which I'm real comfortable with... So like you said, I'm content losin' a few in that rough stuff... just have to shut em down in a better spot next time!

Its just another part of huntin in Florida. It seems like the good hogs usually bay up in the palmettos and the little ones run like hell.

LOL, nothing like looking back and seeing your buddy disappear all of a sudden ---LITERALY--- as he trips and falls--- Goes something like this;
Ayyy, where did ya go? (he was right behind you not a second ago). He says; I am right here? WHERE? I cant see you Here---you dumb a$$ ohhh dang there you are (not 5 feet away from you), LOL
AND GOD once you are in the deep end right dead in the middle it’s like being in a sauna HOT AS HE!!.

Just saving him for later...thats what I say! Did you start your bull dog cross puppy(ies)? Sounds to me as if they have enough sense to know when not to push it.

Some have been started.. The one i kept hasnt. he still has ALOT of puppy in him. His three brothers ive kept up with are all making hands though. one is in tally now with the FSU mascot, when he left he had found and caught one (with other dogs), one is making a catch dog, has a decent nose but catchin is his calling i think. The other is already finding and bayin his own and will catch with another. I think my mistake was keepin one pup and getting the GF another. They seem to feed off each other, and even when run seperate just wanna play with the other dogs

I know he had a few other pups at home too.
