a cheap cattle prod, a white paper towel or white hankerchief and a 3 foot stick...tie the white flag to the stick and add a little deer break scent on the flag...light him up about 3 times today with it in rapid succession...do it again in about 3 days...then  3 days later, just show it to him and one little tap...he could be deer broke after that but might have to repeat in a  month or 2... make sure he is down wind so he can smell the deer...

I love the e collar fans.  But first off the dog has got to know he is doing wrong.  If a hog cutting a dog don't break him from being a hog dog then a e collar ain't going to work if the dog does not know he is doing wrong. I have never used a e collar and all of mine are deer broke.  It is really hard to explain it is something that has to be shown. I was lucky enough for an old cowboy to show me.

I would like to hear it as well. I have one dog that will take a deer track for miles. She is on the choping block because of it.

if he runs a deer then you hit him with a e collar then he knows he has done wrong. if he runs a pig and you dont hit him he knows that is what he is supposed to do. i say keep hitting him when he gets on a deer and make sure you know for sure that is what he is doing. i would not do it till you see it then burn him. works for me. maybe he is hard headed or a slow learner or maybe you didnt hit hard enough. mine looks like a bucking bull when i hit it. but 95 % of my dogs never had to use

when using an e collar the dog must already be running and hunting hogs...then when you know he is on a deer and you are sure of it then light him up good because you don't get many chances to know for sure...on certain corrections you want to make a statement to the dog...deer chasing i one.some dogs afre easy to break off of deer...only turn them loose on a bunch of fresh sign or turn them in when the dogs are running a hog or acting piggy...

real gamey pups, especially if you have more than one on the ground will run a deer...

Just keep huntin him.  Either by hisself or with deer broke dogs.  I've seen the batteries run down on shock collars trying to break dogs and it never work.  If you start them in the training collars then you will always have to put them on the same dogs.  #1 rule:  do not hunt your dogs with proven deer dogs.  Its better to leave them in the dog box than to pick up bad habits.
