if you are in texas, NO you do not have retrieval rights and YES they can shoot your dogs if the dog/s are harrassing the owners cattle, themselves and or family and their dogs. its your word against theirs that your dog/s were or were not harrassing their cattle.

you won't be able to prove otherwise...we tried it and made a good case but we did not win in court...the man who shot the dog said he was baying cows and the dog was 100% cow broke and he was running a hog when shot...so must be careful or hunt at night...

Baying a hog is also legal reason for a land owner to shoot a dog. Better off to not hunt where you don't have permission to cross fences.
Hunting at night? Why would you recommend someone to hunt at night so they could jump fences ?

well, I am not implying to hunt at night to jump fences...but saying to hunt at night to lower the chances of getting your dog shot...
