For those of y'all not friends with me on Facebook don't know about my other passion besides hog and deer hunting. It fills that competitive void left from HS and college sport.. CrossFit has officially become the "Sport of Fitness", it has changed my life and I take any opportunity I can to preach the word

www.crossfit.com is a good starting point to learn more about it...

We recently did a two man competition down in Houston. My partner Daniel and I took fourth out of 40 teams. There were three workouts that were alot of fun..

Workout #1 was each team had 24 cinder blocks stacked on one side, as fast as you could you had to carry the 24 blocks a 100 yards across a field, restock them. Then both guys must row 500 m and then go back and carry the blocks to the other side. We took 3rd overall in this workout. Just plain and simple work is all this one was..

Workout #2 was slightly different. Each partner had to do a 2 min AMRAP(as many rounds as possible) I had to jump up on a 50" box, but could use my hands to help spring up there. I did 39 in two minutes. My partner Daniel had to move a 145# stone from the ground to his shoulder as many times as he could and he got 16 I believe.. Girls weight was 75#'s

The final workout of the day required a little more skill.. It started out with 3 cinder blocks tied onto a long rope, we had to take turns dragging that rope and blocks a 100 yards with just our arms.. From there we proceeded to the pull up rack and weights. The rep scheme was as follows: you had to power snatch the weight overhead, then compete an overhead squat with full depth. Once you completed all your reps you had to do the same number of chest to bar pull ups. Then it was your partners turn to go trough a round. 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 was the rep scheme. Once you were done there we had to bust out 200 double unders (jump once, spin the rope twice around) we also ended up taking third in this. There's a short video of us in the end that you can check out. The weight was 115 for guys and 75 girls

Don't let the competition or Fittness of some of these people scare you into not trying it. Soccer moms, grandma's and little kids all workout at our gym. This isn't a sport just for athletes, it's something that anyone and everyone should do because it promotes functional fitness. I know Boarninja is a fellow member that enjoys cf just as I do and I look forward to hopefully steering a few more people towards the bet shape of their life. Enjoy

our gym in Conroe

CrossFit regionals this past weekend in San Antonio. The top 3 males and 3 females and 3 teams from each region qualify for the CrossFit games in California where Ty crown the fittest man, woman an team on earth!

That's some cool stuff right there... Soon as my wrist gets back to normal I am going to get back in shape. Blakebh was training for the tough mudder, but got a new job and wasn't able to compete. Keep up the good work Tony!

Tony,

I've got a good training regiment for y'all coming up in about 3 more weeks depending on rain.

It starts at noon at the intersection of I10 @ Hwy 95, jog north about 3 miles. Meet me in the field, I'll be the guy in the Dodge dually with the A/C blowing.   Start picking up square bales from the field and loading them on the trailer. There must be 300 bales per trailer, stacked and strapped.  I'll have 5 trucks and trailers ready and waiting, so if y'all want, we can time it, and make it a 5 team contest. To make things simple, y'all can pick up the bales in any order that you want, so long as 300 make it on each trailer.

T.Wilbanks,

The girls will just have to double up on the bales or something... But there won't be any need to drive a truck. Just park the truck, sit in the ac and watch the fitness nuts load the hay from field to truck. It's only about a 30 acre hay patch...

Great stuff! Love people that are training hard. Hey, I always wanted to put togehter the ultimate Man/Dog competion during which ONE man and his ONE dog companion would be dropped in the middle of some mountains and would have to cover 100 miles on foot to reach the "finish line". Of course, they will need to go through the toughest terrains, and survive together to make it and try to win. Some may run out of food and might have to hunt (easy for you guys)...lol
Hope some day their will be such competitions put in place.

Now i see what you been up to man.  Them dogs are gonna disown you unless that girl in the red knows how to feed and hunt.  I guess you could train her up good though.

I tried CrossFit while in Iraq.  Now I'm a smaller guy 5'7" weighing 145.  I started this and lifting in between missions and training and along with some protein and a HUGE force fed diet, I went to 167.  That was one of my biggest goals out there was to swell up some, but having to stop working out over an injury and sure enough I lost it all, and I mean all of it.

I'm gonna try CrossFit again though, but we don't have gyms in these small towns, maybe a good business venture.

I wil be a fellow crossfitter soon. I have a shutdown at work that will be over in mid July.  Thankfully there are two crossfit clubs and and MMA gym within 5 minutes from my house. I will visit both crossfit clubs and go with the one that seems the best to me.
I used to be an athlete and need that competion feeling to keep my motivation. Even though I am 260 pounds now, I can still run a 5K at any time and just did the MS-150 bicycle ride from Houston to Austin.

My crossfit goal is to get back down to 220 and change the seditary life style I have lived since college graduation.

I'm in lol sounds like fun there

Ha Ben I might take them out this weekend an track hunt after this rain! They havnt disowned us yet.. Still waiting to see what these pups are gonna look like in 2 weeks! Yeah man, CrossFit is great at helping prevent injuries and getting over them. It's not like it takes long either. I spend maybe an hour 4 or 5 times a week. I lost 17#'s my first month of cf. I stay around 185# now.. Sub 6 min mile, 500# DL and 200+# snatch it makes hog hunting easy lol it's is a very good business venture. My roomate opened one in Conroe about 2 months ago.. Already over 80 people and turning a big profit, location is key but alot of small towns toether equal one big town.

That's awesome man, just hit both up and see where the competitive drive for you is going to be better.. CrossFit never gets easier, you just get better
