Why would you wanna run what most people are runnin? Most people don't catch near as many hogs as you'd think.  If I was starting fresh, I'd start with something like a Dane/Pyrenees/timber wolf cross or go totally silent recon and run a pack of yorkshire terriers. They have all the equipment to be a hog dog and plus, nobody could shoot them for harrasing livestock for fear of being laughed out of town.

Man I'm scared to even put my 2 cents in on this one. But I'm gonna do it anyway. The best answer is whatever kind of dogs u can keep and get along with that suit your style of hunting.. Not being generic or evasive but  the proof is in the pudding. Get some that will find u some hogs, and keep him at bay til u get there. Sounds simple i know.Currently I have only plotts and jagds with a drathaar for hard times. Im seldom disappointed in them....at least they almost always get an A for effort.  Smiley

I cannot comment on the polar bear idea until I figure out what happened to that thread.

But really though, I like hunting hogs so if someone did bring polar bears down here I'd just have to sick my yellers on em and drive em back to Yankee land!!

Before you go to buying all the finished dogs off the dog trade that money can buy.  Get with some guys around your area that have above average dogs and then decide after a few hunts what you really like.  There is some great people on this board that will really show you some jam-up dogs.
