I know most of you guys don't live in the urban/city area so I'm not sure if this directly affects anyone other than me and Raider54 (paul) but the city of Plano where we both live has just past a new dog ordinance that some are calling among the strictest in the nation. The new rules are effective immediately, I saw the article in the news today.

http://http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/localnews/stories/042109dnmetplanodoglaws.4a7e9cd.html

So now we are going to be under heavy regulation and you know that if one city adopts it, soon it may be commonplace all over Texas.  The city is making it mandatory that all dogs be microchipped and fixed.  There is a clause that allows for hobby breeders and working dogs but even then they want you to pay all kinds of additional fees/permits, and they are going to give you a hard time regardless. Just beware that if you don't speak up for your rights and promote your sport then lil by lil the antis are going to get these small victories that will eventually erode our sport. Just look at Europe and you will see how life will be like with 10 billion regulations, FYI, my friends in Europe have told me right now in Germany you can be fined 10,000 euros or more if any game official ever saw your dog physically bite a wild hog. All they are allowed to do is bay and only certain breeds are even allowed to hunt hogs, using a non approved breed will get you big fines. Is that what you want the future to be like???

Guys, Mr. Mason, Silverton Boar Dogs and a few others have been posting a lot of this and ways to help prevent it, but too many people did too little, and this is the result.
This and several other new rules and regulations will be state-wide if everyone sits around a does nothing.

To Hell with these heterosexually challenged loving liberals. They think giving up their freedom for their safety is the only option--and like in all socialist and communist countries you can see the horrible results.

Everyone please google : new world order and click on bible prophecy then read it and watch the video at the bottom titled obama.

our freedoms are slowly being taken we live in Texas who cares if I chain out a dog or don't microchip it--they will be enforceing the microchip on our children next--start praying

Slimpickins is right. Lots of people have posted about this on TDHA and here, I've put it up on the Lacy board, and though plenty of people have choice words to say about the "crazy ass liberals," no one did anything. Dog hunters don't go to lobby days, they don't go to town hall meetings, they don't write their representatives, they don't write editorials for their local paper... they just come on sites like this and throw some choice insults around and forget about it.

Personally, I think most hog doggers are far too lax with their backyard breeding programs, and holding people to a higher standard would be a good thing. I don't think these specific laws are the answer though. But my dog is spayed, I don't plan to breed, so it isn't my fight. If it is your fight, then fight it, or you'll be unhappy in a couple years when your freedoms are taken away.

"But my dog is spayed, I don't plan to breed, so it isn't my fight."

YOU ARE WRONG

It is your fight if you plan on owning and hunting dogs.

Your spayed dog that you dont plan on breeding is not going to live forever.  When that time comes or you decide to add to your pack.  Where are you going to get your next one from?  A puppy mill or peddler who is pumping out pups one after another who can pay to keep intact dogs?  Think about it a little before you say it isn your fight.  Would rather get mine from the person of my choice or raise them myself. Wink

Great point pig snatcher--it is every hunter that uses dogs problem PERIOD! why can't some people see that-if the breeding needs an up-grade hunters need to start shooting culls not relying on the government!!

I do agree not enough of us do enough but if a ph. # is posted or an email is available I defiantly voice my opinion despite not showing up at the capital buildings. I am sick of liberals making laws against us and getting rid of laws that protect the family. This isn't europe dammitt lets stab some hogs

Honestly what trueblue said was right, a lot of hog doggers are lax in their breeding programs, its the same with anything else, a bad apple spoils the whole bunch, and this is what's happening in this case. People need to have the balls to cull, or find homes for dogs they don't want, instead of letting them go somewhere to "fend for themselves".

No, I don't want to see laws like this passed, and I have emailed and mailed state reps telling them so. I believe they are taking away our freedoms on everything, not just dog hunting, slowly a little bit at a time and I'm sick of seeing it. But..I am also sick of seeing stray dogs running around my neighborhood, knocking over our garbage, etc. My dogs are either kept in my yard or in 6x10 kennels and are let out an hr a day to play and excersise in the yard.  I don't want to have to buy new kennels, or build new ones, if the laws are passed, and I really don't want to be forced into having all my dogs fixed. I'll probably break the law for awile until I start getting tickets...then I guess I'll be one of the "wannabes" that gets out of this sport.

People need to stop breeding junk dogs to each other, be more responsible on watching females that are in heat, keep their dogs from running around loose to knock the neighbors trash over, etc, and maybe laws like this wouldn't be passed. I think it's to late though.

shawn , i agree 100 % on everything you said . but i dont think the government should have the power to tell us what to do with our animals , or kids as long as the guy is caring for them properly , and thats what these laws are meant to do .

when asked something about gay marriage at the pageant miss ca. said she believes marriage is between a man and a woman ,

it cost her the crown, she said it anyway .  we need more people like that  !!!!!!!!!!!!

jdt,

The girl does have a backbone doesn't she....Too often people just say what they think people want to hear. It is refreshing to see someone speak their beliefs and stand behind them at a cost....whether or not I agree with what they are standing for, I still respect them for having a backbone.

ohhh ok i was wondering what the hell the comment about miss california was about...im a little slow witted.

Yeah I applaud what she said, I'm not saying whether or not my beliefs are the same as hers, but she has the right to state her own opinion. Well I guess she does, this is still SORTA  a free country isn't it?

We have been in this nightmare for more than 20 years here in Europe.
Hunting have become for the royal and rich, in some of the countries here in Europe where there is most boars, the land owners are making A LOT of money on boarhunting, therefore the locals can not hunt there anymore, too much money in it. It is impossible for mr. nobody to be allowed to hunt.

In most countries we can not hunt with catchdogs, only baydogs, who stand in big distance to the pig. OR you run the pigs out of the woods with dogs and place shooters on stands. If you catch boars with your dogs  and get busted....it is 10-15.000 dollars fine..at least.

In some EU countries you can only use dogs who are in the FCI group of hunting dogs, that means that all bull breeds are NOT allowed to be hunted with.

Today in Denmark, a american staff terrier. is demanded to be killed, because he killed a cat..it is getting way out of hand.

Animals are not allowed to be animals anymore...

I hope you all FIGHT for this, we did in Europe, we still fight, but things are developing the wrong way..and the reason is..mostly the PEOPLE,  not the dogs..a lot of young punks have dogs they use as weapons, for showing off etc...and they give our breeds a BAD name to the public...and the politicians makes more new laws..Which ofcourse they do not listen to anyway..
Always the bad guys who destroy it for the serious people, who never get involved in accidents with their dogs, and who listen to laws...
