I am way too out of shape to hunt all nught and then drive home. I have fallen asleep while driving and never want to do it again. So I came up with a brilliant plan to put a cap on the back of my truck and put one of those Rv AC units on top so I could just crawl in the back of the truck and sleep. But the AC unit do not run on 12v dc. If i got one of those 2000 watt inverters would that run the ac? I am not sure how much power the truck makes to power the inverter. I am guessing the RV's either plug in or have a generator. I could get a generator but that would be something else to hall and for someone to take.

you will burn your altenator up unless you put a 500-700amp 24vdc generator in place of your stock altenator and then put a dc voltage step down transformer to run your tck and the rest of the power going to the power convertor to run the rv a/c. you may ck into 1 of them cowboy sleepers that you can either crawl in through the back glass or get in through the door in the bed.

I know the new Honda generators are tiny not much bigger than a 5 gallon can of gas and when there on they whisper a buddy of mine uses one on his boat I think its a 1000w and on 1 1/2 tank can run 4-5 hours fully loaded not to sure on price but if all your runnin is ac I imagine you wouldn't be loadin it down that much

Just found a price for Honda generators. Honda sure is proud of those generators. First are they worth the extra money? Second where is the best place to get a better price?

IMO its worth it cause there so much smaller and quieter. The ac unit your talkin about is probably gonna be louder than those generators and I'm not to sure about the pricing on em

http://powerequipment.honda.com/generators/recreational-generatorslike you said dub, they sure are roud of their products. i could handle the noise if i had to choose between spending $300 for a louder 1, or $1000 for a quiet 1. you can always put a car muffler on the cheaper 1 to quieten down more, plus they sell these things called ear plugs.

I run a Honda eu2000 genset to power a 13500btu ac on my lq horse trailer. It will run the ac, a 32" flatscreen tv/dvd, or a 1500 watt space heater for 8 hours on 1 gallon of gas. I have two of them, that can be coupled together to double the output when needed. The Honda eu2000 runs about a grand each, and are quieter than the ac...
You can also hook up a five gallon outboard fuel tank and have a total of 6 gallons and a run time of ~48 hours.

You'll want around a 2000 watt generator to power the a/c. A 13,500 btu A/C (which is more than plenty for a truck topper) will pull roughly 1,200 to 1,400 watts. You can run a pig tail off the unit itself and use an air distribution box with manual controls right on the ceiling assembly, just be sure you brace the 14"x14" hole as a 13,500 will weigh anywhere from 98 to 106 lbs.

I had a 2000 honda and it wouldn't push my LQ trailer but I bought a 3000 Honda and it does just fine.

I wonder what the difference is... I use mine all the time. Honda eu2000 to run a 13500btu ac, and a 32" flatscreen TV/DVD. I do turn off the ECO mode.

Like I say an a/c will pull 1,200 to 1,400 watts. If your using anything else with it especially anything with a heating element a 2,000 watt won't handle it. Just the a/c you should be fine. (Speaking from personal experience, I sell travel trailers and fifth wheels for a living)

I even plugged my 3000 into a trailer with A/C and it wouldn't run it. But you know. On my trailer my wife can blow dry her hair with the A/C on. No one else can do that. I've had my 3000 for 5 years and use it every weekend in summer and often in the winter. It has never let me down. Great Great Great generators.
