My buddies Corey, Logan and I loaded up Sunday morning and headed to the woods to try to get one caught before it got too hot. We got the mule unloaded and headed into the west side of the property. My other hunting buddies that have dogs, had other plans for the day so all I had was my main dog Joker, a 7 month old puppy and my cd Dirty. We rode through the first gate and turned out about 5:00. We hadn't been in the gate two minutes and joker showed 320 yards back toward the truck with the puppy following behind. They weren't going the way I thought they needed to so I turned around and headed to them trying to get them on what I thought would have been the right direction. The found the puppy and got him loaded up and drove closer to joke. Everytime we would start closing the gap he would take off in a different direction and we would end up far from where we needed to be. He was making tight circles then would take off a couple hundred yards then circle but we could never hear him bay and never showed treed on the garmin. After almost two hours of running he finally showed treed 860 yards from where we were and we headed to him. We drove to about 390 and could hear him bayed. I turned the puppy out from there and walked to about 75 yards and turned dirty loose. Just before dirty got there the hog broke and ran a little deeper in the woods but they shut him down after about 60 yards. We ran in and got him flipped and hobbled and started draggin him out. The boar went 277 on the scales and had good teeth..

Yes that is Joker in the picture and the hogs ears were marked with a split in the middle of each ear. We haven't marked any around that area but there is a ranch down the road that he could wandered from. We caught a smaller hog last night that was built the same as the big hog so there's more where he came from  Grin
