I was wondering if it was legal to hunt pigs in a air boat on public or private land?

what state do you live in? go to the game laws online for your state and it should say if it is legal or not. if it does not say, contact the local game warden department and ask them. there are rules that make it legal for some animals that are not legal for other animals.

Most game wardens will tell you swatting mosquitoes is illegal if they don't know you.
Most I've met don't want you doing anything fun.  Wink

It is perfectly legal to own a boat and take your dogs for a ride with collars and trackers and vests on if that's your thing, but as a guy who constantly has my backyard hunting spot poached on by people hunting out of boats, I will tell you this, please don't do it where I'm hunting legally.

If you have permission to a spot and need to access it by boat that's fine, if you don't have permission and your just planning on winding them out of the boat, that's probably not fine.

Are you asking about shooting out of the boat or hauling dogs n other hunting equip to and from? The game law says you can not shoot a vehicle or boat while on public waters, except for sink boxes. The law used to allow shooting from the boat as long as the propulsion system is out of the water and boat is achored at both ends. I use/d my boat to go to and from boat ramp with dogs, feeders, 4wheeler, corn and so forth on public land. The law is in the 2012 hunting and fishing guide. I just threw mine away or i would find it and let u know what page, but it does say in the manual what can and can not do in a boat. A boat aint no different than a car or tck, as far as the law reads. If you abide by law regulating autos, and apply it to boats, then you should be safe.

i was wrong about the sink boxes. it illegal to use sink boxes now and here is what i found online in the hunting rules.
It is against the law to:
• discharge a firearm on or across a public road or hunt game animals, game birds, exotic
animals or fur-bearing animals on public roads.
• hunt any wild animal or wild bird, including exotic animals, on foot or from a vehicle on any
public road or road right-of-way, or a boat on public water, except that migratory waterfowl
may be hunted from a boat or any floating craft (except a sinkbox) under certain conditions.

let me kinda re-word that, i go spot to spot on the boat... i DO NOT put the dogs out then run the boat as u would road huntin or something like that and i DO NOT turn them loose if they wind something from the boat.. i simply use it to get place to place..
