Tommorrow at my the Sarasota County Commision meeting they are discussing allowing a hog dog hunt on a couple of small tracts of county land. The commisioners emails are getting blown up by anti's. As you guys well know, its the squeeky wheel that gets the oil. If any of you wanted to take a second and send them an email in favor of allowing the hog hunts it would be appreciated by us florida hunters. While its only a small step if they allow it, it may open the doors for other hunts.  Here is the address        commissioners@scgov.net

Thank you to anyone who can take the time to help with this.

Christine Robinson is the commisioner being sent all that garbage. I thumbed through them and there was about 98% anti hunting.  Undecided

I was just about to post my retraction.....for all of you who may take pictures of injured or dead dogs you should go to the one posted 7/8 at 6.03 and see why this garbage should NEVER EVER make it to your camera!!!!

I foresee some reply to emails coming in my near future about just how wrong they are about the majority of hunters!

I'll send them my thoughts.  Not real keen on the public hunts(as are) myself, but... if done properly, I would participate

Being from louisiana I over looked this a couple times. I went to the comissioners email link and read some of them. If you dont win the fight on small turf they will slowly gain ground until they take it all. I urge you to read this and other emails and see if you can contain yourself... even if you are out of state, it is OUR fight! Email sent.

Subject: HOG HUNTING Huh?? WHEN : ) ? You need to read this!!!!

Hi,

I am a concerned citizen about the horrible inhumane act about to take place. PLEASE do not allow this to pass!!  It is horrible.
So you have these redneck hillbillies ( hey Im from Kentucky, I am a hillbilly and I would NEVER EVER hurt and animal, and would jump some one who did!!!)
I understand the hogs are out of control, maybe some birth  control?Huh?Huh?
But Having ignorant dumb hillbillies STAB and have their dogs attack the hogs, what is wrong with you?
This is an excuse for very BBBBBAAADDDDD thinking people to partake legally in the stabbing of animals.
Who can bring themselves to take out a knife and STAB a living being ,  that is SICK MINDED!!!!!!!
And then to turn around and have their dogs (that they love so much? yea a right!!!!)  attack these poor hogs while they have been maimed?
Why doesn't any get it? Have you heard of Jeffery Dommer? Ted Bundi?  Richard kuklinski?Huh?  Look them up see what they did to animals.
You can't just let people going out and stabbing animals. Better yet putting other animals and children at risk.  teaching children that its so fun to kill and hurt animals.
What would you do if you saw your neighbor doing this?  Be mortified and have him arrested? Of course!!!!
It would be all over the news!!!
PLEASE consider not doing this!! Its easy to just say """"NO""""!!!!
Rather than have it go through and try to change it back to NO again.  Just don't do it!!

Sincerely,
Julie OSteen

You dont have to be from Kentucky to get pissed about this one  Grin

So I guess if I stab a hog and get bored with it, my next move would be into the serial killer area to get my kicks!  Cheesy

See you fellas in jail soon

Well, I just got back and it was an interesting day to say the least. I got there at one, because they had an open comment session where they gave the 1st 15 people 3 mineach to talk. I put in my card and waited. At 1:30 there was about 40 anti's holding pictures of dead dogs, kids mauled by pitbulls, knifes, etc. On the pro hunting side it was just me. LOL. If looks could kill I wouldn't have made it. Everybody got their 3 min. I mentioned some stuff about passing on a hunting heritage. The lady after me took a couple shots at me for that. Kids witnessing that brutal stuff etc. I also made a point of mentioning that most hog hunters were working men and women and regrettably could not make it here at 1:30 on a weekday. One of them played a  youtube video on the big screens of a caught hog being killed with a knife. It was actually not to bad of a video, but on the bigscreen with the tention in the air, it seemed more dramatic than it was. A few of them started crying. The commision wasn't scheduled to discuss this till around 4, so I left and ran some errands. I was pretty doubtful it would pass due to the large amount of negative feedback the commision got.
I got back in time for the discussion. Swiftmud people gave a really good presentation on how destructive hogs where, showed a bunch of pics of the damage and what they do to the native animals. They fielded some questions from the commisioners about the hunt and took a vote. 4 to 1 in favor of allowing the hog hunt. Man there was some pissed hippies in the room. They made a bunch of noise and left. One of them yelled at me as I was walking out. The commisioner that voted no met me on the way out and told me thanks for coming and then said that me and him were on the same page. Funny thing was before he voted no he went on to say how he was a hunter etc, just didn't think it was right for our county.
A win for us. What I learned.
1. Even then tame pics and videos are going to be used against us.
2. Those people can sure stir up a crowd.

That swiftmud property is only a couple miles from my place, so if any of you florida guys get one of the permits, give me a call. I got room for tents or campers etc. We will at least meet up and drink a beer.

I got an email back from a guy telling me thanks for my contribution to the topic, and he was a life long hunter. I wonder if it was the same that voted against it. Either way great job. I didn't see this going your way at all after reading the emails. You said they were 98% anti's it was more like 99.9% and me, you and one guy wanting to bow hunt was the .1%. Thanks for bringing this to light. Hope y'all catch a lot and drive past the anti's with a trailer load. Don't forget to send an invite to the commissioners that voted for it. Might help out in the long run. Happy hunting!

That was the one who voted noJon Thaxton. In my 3 min I extended an open invite to all of them to come and see my dogs. A news guy wanted to come to the house and interview me and see the dogs. It seems like they always turn that stuff around on you. Plus, I'm camera shi so I declined.
