We have both types of dogs. Since its been brought up quite a bit lately, let me say that our bmc's are not FULL BLOOD.  Grin  Ok, back to the topic.

We have both types of dogs and we hunt the cur dogs mostly and leave the cat at home because we hunt a large area and our cat is short range and we like long range dogs. This isn't the case with all catahoulas, but I hear the same story from a lot of cat owners. Short range and very rough. We do use him in certain situations though. Hope this helps.

Where I live you never see any cats that are just jam up if hunted with a few around here but none compare to a yellow dog

I hunt bmc's because back when i started doggin the guys that i ran with had em and they worked and worked well. Over the years i tried over a dozen catahoulas from various places, they just never did it for me, as stated above, all the cats i hunted with were also short short range. Granted i don't want a dog thats goin to smooth leave the country but 100-200yds just didn't cut it for where i was hunting. I like a dog to roll out and make wide circles 400-700yds out while hunting and thankfully i now own a couple who do just that. (100% credit to Mr. Witherspoon) i would own/hunt a cat in a heartbeat if i found any that fit my style but so far i havent. Now days i look at it with a "if it ain't broke don't fix it attitude". It took me quite some time to acquire the particular line of dogs i wanted and luckily i now have them. I plan on continuing this line to the best of my ability because it works for me. Hope this makes sense.

It doesn't matter what color of dogs you feed, the only thing that matters is the quality of people who made those dogs.

When you see a damn good yella cur dog noting else will do. I had 13 dogs on my yard when I started, had over $4k in 5 of them. Went hunting with Bigo caught a bunch of hogs and came home, the next day I only had 4 dogs left and a hole in the ground that was full. I have not yet seen a damn good Cat.

Ill be honest with you easttex, ive hunted behind a few non ymbc's that i would make room for in a heartbeat on my yard, including a couple of Djhogdoggers dogs. i've said on here before and ill say it again, i dont care if they are purple with pink polkadots, if they will produce pork i will hunt em!!!

Most of the time i truely think that the "bashing" and "chit talkin" on here is just pickin with others and not truely bashing. I make comments on occassion about yella being better but truth be known im sure there are plenty of awesome plotts/cats/ and others that get the job done as good as a yella dog. i think far more people on this particular forum use ybmc's than any other breed when it comes down to it, i may be wrong but it seems that way anyhow. Just my .02

The reason most people bash on other dogs beside tells dogs is that is what has always been used in east Texas, where most people on this site are from. Here in south Florida, I know of very few people who have talked good about them. Only heard of a few good ones. They are what's been bred to work best in that region for working stock. You bring one of those dogs down here and hunt with someone and they're most likely not gonna be too impressed, because its not what they're used to, and vice versa if we brought one of our dogs out there!

Hey easttexas I think theres some real good people on here with some good yella dogs they prove it with the hogs they catch and I respect them and their opinions. Most of this on here is in fun ,but its like somebody told me when I first got on here consider the sores. The ones     on here that get all ugly dont have any credibility with me anyway .If somebody has to bash what others have it makes me wonder about what they have.Maybe these yella dogs are super dogs and the people who have who all these lesser breeds are just better handlers.I got cats but luv all the workinbreeds even the yellas.
