There are so many variables when dealing with this breed - the Baer test alone can cause you to cull some of your best looking pups, that's another reason in my eyes why the best dogs need to be bred.

There are some great breeders here in the U.S., that take this breed to another level - they travel thousands of miles a year to make sure their dogs are worthy to breed to. Either way - much respect to those of you hunt your dogos.

My pups aren't all for hunting. Most people show them or have them as family/guard dogs. But I'm not going to sit here and explain myself over and over again. Like I said tho I do respect everyone's opinion.

I'm sorry if you feel you have to explain yourself, never ment anything bad - they are your dogs, you can do what ever you want with them, not tryin to judge you. Smiley
I just seriously love this breed - and want the best for it. Sometimes our passion for it can cause each other to become defensive by certain comments.

You get what you pay for. If you pay bottom dollar more then likely you'll get a crappy bred dogo. You pay high dollar you'll get a good bred dogo. Just like any other breed.

THIS IS SO WRONG !

Price has nothing to do with QUALITY !
If this your view then good luck !
 Let me put it like this, I will sell you my next litter of pups for $50,000...
Then I will give my buddy the next litter for free from same parents !
Now who has the better dogs ?

 It's all good, I understand where you are coming from. I am glad you love the breed, I feel if more people gave them a chance they would be very pleased with what these dogs are capable of.

In my opinion that is part of the problem ! Hunting breed dogs are ruined by PET/SHOW breeders...

Melonhead, its not often i give credit to a dogo lover, but the dogos might have a chance if more owners/breeders had your outlook on them instead of seeing dollar signs... I have to give you a little respect for that, as long as you dont have catahoulas too Wink

Hahaha, only a little Florida cur - honestly, wish I started with them. There would have been a lot less drama and a hell of a lot less training, all I had to do was let that little gyp run - she's all instinct.

But thank you sir, for your kind words.

This one I sent to Texas she now lives with Jacob Sanchez in Poth Tx;

This crazy bitch stayed VERY close to me--- her owner aint right in the head though---he has a Mellon head;

Bonny and Clyde (RIP)

JinSi

Bella and Nash (Baton Rouge LA)

There are quite a few more out there, need look through my albums.

I will say this just like not every person should own a dog not every hunter has the ability to work with them, I have always wondered why is it that the success rate is so much hire with some hunters then with others? (Rhetorical question).  Marvin for example has a way with them like few folks I know, Noah seems to have the same handle, my friends Bam and Amy from Ohio, Herchiel in LA, Mike Christman, Daniel and these are just people I KNOW personally and/or have seen them work a Dogo ---it takes something and it is NOT money to raise a good one, I do NOT believe money makes the dog ---careful selection does (of OWNER and dog)---  At the end of the day we ALL do what makes us happy and for some of us it is about the enjoyment we get out of our dogs--- I much rather be arnd a dog then most humans 90% of the time--- and it’s a shame we allow our dogs to carry OUR egos--- it’s a big weight to pack sometimes--- in any event yall have fun as someone said 99% of us do this for fun---we don’t HAVE to do so--- at times its cheaper to just go to wallyworld and buy pork, BUT there is a certain PRIDE in being able to KNOW how to do things, to KNOW HOW TO FEND for oneself .

EVERYTIME Dogo come up we get Loooong threads and most folks are fun and I know mean to be funny, BUT others do take it to a very personal level --- IF you don’t like Dogos then GOOD, keep with what you like no one is twisting your arm to own or LIKE them ---BUT don’t disrespect others for their preference--- after all we are all in it together in one way or another, I think things like defending our rights to bear arms, or HUNT with our dogs is way more important then what breed of dog we hate or LOVE.

Respectfully.

Thankyou Oly and Rick.  You are both my kind of people... We appreciate the Dogo for what it can be, plain and simple.  Doesn't mean they gotta cost a million dollars either lol... the two I have were given to me out of respect.   From one hunter to another.   That's what hunters do that care who their dogs go to.  You want to know that your dogs are with people that can bring the best out of what you bred and if it ain't worth a chit.... TELL YOU it aint worth a chit and cull it's sorry ass.  That is what makes better dogs, plain and simple.

Yall know this ol' hound by now... the eternal, BUCHO

... why I choose this breed?

I do not hunt for chit hogs... I could catch a thousand hogs in a month.... but... the ONE, BIG, BAD, SON OF A BITCH... that whipped my dogs and walked away... THIS is what I hunt for.

THIS, is why I love BUCHO.  When he gets there, it is a done deal.

First one I bought in 1998. There were only 2 breeders I could find  in Fl. One in Miami and one in Fort White. He was a good catchdog. Wanted to fight every male dog he saw. Had to put him down at about 3 from heart problems.

Second I got from the same lady in Fort White as a replacement for the other. Would catch anything and a much better attitude.  I got tired of toting him around because he was so big. He is an old guard dog now.
