Grin I had to do it. Post em up, show me what you got. I rarely come across anybody who hunts them but know of a few plus the one I use. Some of the most hard headed dogs I know hands down. Real emotional too. This is Roscoe he doesn't have an ounce of quit in him.

Aww he's pretty. He ever get on hogs?

I have one standard, my husband has two minis that are both active catch dogs. Mine will be getting his first taste of pork real soon. He's 8mths old right now.

I have a goal, to start my own project on the side, of breeding proven, working Bull Terrier stock. It's near impossible to find any kennels anymore that are actually working their dogs. In fact, most frown upon it. There's another gentleman on here too that uses a BT as a catch dog.....

Here's a couple of my goofy arse, yet very driven BT, "Shiner" at 8mths old. There's alot more to him than looks and a pretty pedigree ;-)

Man I miss my bull terrier. She was the nicest dog ever. At least to me and the people she knew. I wasn't into hog doggin when I had her but dang she woulda made a great cd. These dogs have the lock jaw like crazy. Didn't want to see it but happen but it did quite a few times. If she saw another dog on her land there were no questions asked just a straight sprint to the neck. Luckily I was around when that were to happen cuz she didn't believe in quitting. Better have a break stick strapped on these guys collars lol

Yeah he's been on some hogs, he's extremely rough and goes right for the neck every time just about. I know what you mean, I would love to have another but they are real hard to find out of a hunting stock or somebody willing to let you hunt them. I'll be a buyer if you got that program set up!!! Shiner is good looking for sure. Is there a difference between English Bull Terriers & Bull Terriers? I'm not so sure but Roscoe is English style. Lol we let him play with 12lb bowling bowl and he destroys them, his favorite toy. Have to watch your legs/ankles when he throws it at you.

I'm not sure what Bull Arabs have in them but that's another breed I have taken a liking too.

I know what you mean about if she saw another dog it was right for the neck..... Roscoe has killed two other dogs of the neighbors because they've gotten loose and come onto the property. It's really unfortunate but his prey drive is insane like you say there isn't no quitting. He's a real good dog though just gets his feelings hurt too easily at times, lol.

They are almost too intelligent for their own good. They do have selective hearing too lol. English Bull Terrier is the complete name for the breed. There are 'standards' which are normal sized, and then there are 'miniature' bull terriers which are by breed standard smaller. My husband's minis catch right on the ear every time. They really are just full of prey drive....vermin watch out! They can be dog aggressive as well if not socialized around other dogs from the beginning. Even if they are generally good with other dogs, you have to watch it because they are typically a dominant breed and will not hesitate to brawl if the moment arises. They do have hellafied bites, and my husband's need to be broken off a hog, just as the other bulldogs do. Yeah most breeders will gasp if you mention the concept of hunting with these dogs. It's a shame really, how much they have deviated from their original standard/purpose. Most you see nowadays are horribly over weight as well, which is depressing. Shiner will always be kept to the same standard as all my working dogs. He's turning out quite nicely, I am very happy with him. I can't wait to get his career rolling so that I can then implement him into my breeding program. Smiley It's refreshing to meet others who use these guys as working dogs as well...

And this was my girl Lucy. She would have crossed nicely with your "shiner" dog. I bred her once about 4 years ago and she passed away due to complications with the pups.

Arabs do have BT. The BT is used in a lot of crosses over in Oz. Another popular BT cross is with the cattle dog (blue heeler).

No friggin way! That'd be AWESOME!!!! I'll totally pay ya for it Smiley That'd be a fantastic addition to my collection. I was bummed because they sell back issues on their website, but this one is one of the ones that is sold out :/

Your Lucy bitch looked GOOD. They would have crossed well together for sure. I love the 'older type' head structures....Shiner is borderline with me...he has a roman finish, but not to where he can't drink properly, or to where it hinders him being able to stay in hold. I wouldn't put him to any bitches that have any more of a curve than he does. I want to preserve the function. So sad when bitches pass due to whelping complications.....I'm sorry for your loss.....

Keep in mind the english bull terrier is hit or miss. I would love to see a true working line here in the u.s. They are great dogs to have around. Beautiful, stubborn, driven, dumb(some would say), can't swim(some would say), and a great companion. They get the job done with style points just not enough to spend the money on one. Pits and ab's can do the job without making you broke buying one. They are wonderful but not worth the hassle of trying to start a working line of bt.

I surely don't plan on charging people an arm and a leg as show breeders do, and I'll be doing my own handwritten paperwork. If I get my own genuine working line established, they will go for the same range as any other working dog. Folks say the same about Dogos (high price) but I still see quite a few out there that are bought for working. I'm not getting into doing this to make money. If I even do have pups available from time to time, whatever I didn't keep for myself, I'd be placing into working homes only.  It don't matter what the breed, you could say any dog is "hit and miss." I surely feel that it is most definatley worth it. These dogs are under rated, but VERY very capable of being amazing working dogs, just as they used to be years and years ago. I don't see it as a hassle at all. I put alot into all my dogs, and they give just as much if not more back. I don't treat the BT's any different than any of my other breeds. They work just as hard if not harder here. Cheesy
