They say they ain't ripe til its frosted on them couple times but ive eat them without them bein frosted on. Should be real mushy when ripe. I have several in my yard. also always heard a dog couldn't smell a Coon after hes been up in persimmon tree.

lol yea there are several variaty's , im thinking on planting some of the japanese persimmons on the plce hear they get big as peaches .

Yup, them fugi persimmons get huge. I've trying to find some bigger potted trees to plant on the lease.
The guys i hunt with got a good laugh when they got me to try one that werent quite ripe...cuz the goodens looked rotten to me:-\
