the one that i have is ok little tempermental takes her a little while to warm up to people, dont try to bite just tail bettween her legs catchs well does not regrip so far. the main reason that i got her was to cross with my bulldog that has lots of hart. just wanted to put some size to his pups. some of the best catch dogs ive seen were dogo bulldog crosses and you are right all you can do is try them out and cull or keep also the one i have she was very slow in maturing.

I've hunted behind a nice one great dog. I think the main reason people bash them would be because of the price, their may be as many culls in the bull breeds but it doesn't cost $800+ to get a bulldog from good lines if it does turn out to be a cull. If you can get a nice one from good lines at a decent price I'm all for em. I just can't see the need in spending that much on a dog that in the end is doing the same thing that a less expensive bulldog can do just as well.

Most of the time people trash the dogo is because they can't afford one... A good dogo is the same as a good bull dog...I'm sure there is just as many culls in bulldogs as dogo's... My experience with mulitiple bloodlines and many, many dogos/ABs/APBTs tell me that the last thought in above statement is inaccurate. The first thought I would tend to think is inaccurate as well. Speaking honestly about your experience with any breed does not necessarily mean you are trashing the breed. If someone really wants something, they'll spend the money to get it. Just because you speak honestly about your experiences with something doesn't mean you haven't owned it in the past or that you don't have the finances to own it if you choose...

I have hunted with 2 can't say they are no better than a pit except leg but my pit has that much leg. I have never been able to try one for the price but if I ever buy another catch dog pup I will probably buy one. That video was just for chits and giggles I wasn't trying to imply they all are like that

If there were a "hunting dogo line" with the $$$ to match, meaning the same price you can get a damn good American bulldog pup outta proven parents then I d try one. It's not that I can not afford one it's the principal. It's a catch dog. Designed to catch the hog. I have friends that have pits outta shelters and rescued that made damn good catch dogs. It just doesn't seem practical to spend $1000 or more for a non guaranteed catch dog. Most lines are breed for pretty standard look, I d love to see some Dogos like I ve seen on YouTube from Argentina. With the $$$ Americans want I can't see it. I went to the extent to ask my neighbor if he would consider bringin back a dogo for me (he goes to Argentina every year and has good friends there with them, he s a alligator man) and he told me he could get one over here for less than $500 outta proven stock so why do Americans think theirs are So much better?

I hate to say it but I t k the $$$ breeders can get for a dogo pup is hurting the hunting lines of the breed. I know a few hog Doggers that would either sell a pup outta their best lines for a lot less than others just wanting the $$$$$$$. Hell, I know of a few that are jam up enough ppl that would GIVE proven hog dogs to certain people that they know WILL work and give the pup a real chance.

It's like any other dog... if it makes the grade, keep it... if not, cull it.
well said ... I once seen a bulldog that anyone would've wanted to own beautiful dog swole well mannered but he wasn't worth a chit when it came to catchin hogs .. i mean he'd get after them an eventually catch them but he wanted to fight more then catch i had 40lbs gyp that would teach him a thing or two ... he is just a yard dog now

Money has nothing to do with it. I know there are some good dogo's but ive never seen one in person.
Heres my reasoning:
1) i can pick up 20 or more pitts for the price of 1 dogo and 75% of em will work
2) i can feed 2 pitts for the price of feedin 1 dogo
3) a 55lb pit is easier to carry than a dogo
4) if my pitt gets killed i can find another in under 24 hours and not use 2-3 truck notes to buy him

I shouldn't say money has nothing to do with it, because it does, it aint that i dont have it, its the fact that im not spendin it on something whose entire job in life is to run full speed into an angry animal cabale of destroyin it in seconds......
