What good blood did she come from? Most pits will catch but you
Have to be selective on which ones you let be YOUR catchdog. When you say good blood, has someone devoted lots of time and several (more than 4) generations of dogs to create a catchdog line?

Yes sir t bob let me correct it.. I got her from a guy up around Clinton Louisiana . I was told she comesfrom good blood.. I have seen both parents catch but that's all I know for sure .. it strange because she is real good sometimes when I work with her then other times she will catch the bark then catch and so on .

5 months? Answered your own question. Teeth probably havnt even set yet. Could be sore? I wouldn't let a bulldog catch a good hog till at least 10 months, but that's just me.

5 mo old  probably doesn't even have a FULL SET of adult teeth yet. I would leave her be for 6 months. Teach her to walk through woods on a lead or something.

in my opinion 5 months old is in no way shape or form the age to work a catchdog  let alone judge it . all you should be doing with a bulldog that young is socializeing it and teaching it the basic art of handle  . what's the rush in trying the dog this young at catching Huh??

So you guys are saying not to show my bull dog a baby pig at this age. ? The pig is litttle and its not like I'm tryin to catch with her . I was just seeing what she would do... I read all the post about four or five months old pups and people training them. And I do not know if curs mature faster or not , but I was just wondering yalls opinion ..

I didn't see that she was only 5 months old.

No, there's no reason to show her any hogs right now, no matter what size. But as far as reading posts about other people's 4-6 month old pups already being started
And crap, well don't worry, most of that is just internet talk.

Ain't no fault to it. Your just doing what everybody else was acting like they were doing. Learning new things comes with the territory so don't worry over it none, just don't keep letting her bay. If she's a pit, shell let you know when she's ready.

It may not be the right way to do it.........But I really dontdo anything but handle and haul my dogs around until about a year old. Not cause I heard it was the thing to do, I just dont think they are physically ready to handle much else, and it saves alot of headache when they have a handle the first time you cut em loose. Just my $0.02
