Alrity heres the deal. As i mentioned in my previous post i have a place where i can only trap. So for the longest we've trapd a few not what we hould be trapping. But i had a problem with the pigs not wanting to go in the trap. Especially after having 4 bust out of the trap. So i came to a final coclusion of buipding a corral trap. I know there easy to put up but im just wondering what kind of ideas yal have when it comes to a corral trap. Ive seen quite a few but really would like to hear some personal experiences.

I like these two designs. T-post and 6' pannels with 4"x4" squares. How many post and how big is all up to you. The more posts and the more wire the better. When you get 30 hogs in them they will go to rocking. Over lap your pannels. I suggest a deer feeder anchored in the middle and to burry a water trough of some sort.

If you build one big enough you can hold them in there. The best bait for hogs is hogs.

... and when those big boars want in they will circle it and make for easy pickens  Grin

I appreciate the info! Eric those are some pretty helpful pictures thanks. So you dont need no kind of trip wire or nothing. I know they sell door for the trap but i got a buddy who ha plenty of tpost and pannels and would like to make it work out of that. Only thing that worries me is that if they dont even wana go in the trap makes me think there not gona push their way in the corral

We leave the door un set for a few days then ride by and check it for activity. I prefer to not even get off the bike when doing this. Then when I set the trip on the door I spray watered down koolaid on my boots and on the trap door. Otherwise mine won't go near it for a few days. Also I prefer to have at least a portion of the trap where it's shady. In case it's late before I get there.

the heart shape trap works great. i set up the ends of the pannels at the mouth so they stay open about six inches and cut the end off the pannel so they act as barbs to them from going back out.bate all the way through the mouth of the trap.have caught up to thirty hog at one time.

I use the one just like marks, the more trees you put the wire around the better. The most I've caught was 23. Good luck!

what are you using for bait? if you can put a feeder and a young sow in it, you can have live bait and feed for the bait. dig you a hole and make them a woller, make it feel like home for them.

The acorn tree yer setting up under is gonna be a challange I had hogs coming to feed every night but never trapped because the area was so big acorns were everywhere and they didn't have to feed in the trap bcuz of all the acorns , make yer trap big anough to surround the floor coverage or u may have the same problem or find yerself trying to rake them all up

I have better luck with a pannel perch trap style door that metal headgate stuff.

What i do is put a rope on the end the the pannel that makes the door. Pull it back to itself so it makes a couple foot gap for the pigs to go in and out of. Start feeding.

You want to feed as much groceries, corn, cattle feed, scraps, what ever you can find for as long as you can stand it. Feed a liitle thru the entrance but as soon as they clean that up pnly feed inside the trap. Make them spend lots of time in the trap so they become comfortable... Let their guard down. If the little ones go in and clean out the corn you sprinkled in 2 min the big ones will probably not even go in.

After a couple weeks start making the entrance gap smaller and smaller. Little bit at a time. When you
finally set it get some double snaps and put 2 or 3 on the "door" pannel. Snap the top of the door pannel to the other pannel. Bend the bottom of the pannel in to the trap two squares or so up. Put another snap just above the bend at the bottom and one between those two.

Bait it up good and be ready. If they dont go in the first night its ok. Give them a couple days. If you catch some secure the door asap with the 2nd and 3rd snap. If you think the hogs are smart dont hesitate to zip tie brush and stuff to the pannels especially around the door.

There are no exacts in trapping but i have had very good luck doing it ths way. Maybe it will help you.

I don't know any specs on that trap. Our local Game Wardens made it. I just walked up on it in public land and took a pic.
