I'm not asking would it make a hog dog I'm just wondering has anyone ever owned one. I have seen one I person. My cousin had one and it was mean as it could be to strangers. I have also seen one that was mixed with an American bulldog. I don't ever see  any for sale or ever here anything about them. They look like a pointer to me. I see a lot of mixed information on the web. Some say non-sporting some say scent hound and some even gun dog. Can someone feel me in from personal experience?

Dad had one way back it had 13 puppies and he had them all sold for $200 each and not one of them lived. Said the mom wouldn't raise them.

I had a neighbor with one and from what I've seen and heard that's a mean ass breed.

My parents had one when I was growing up, I remember it was fairly aggressive, however I have a friend with two of them, both great dogs, neither is mean, both dog and people friendly.

Had one as a kid. The male was laid back but was very protective. He would kill dogs that came in his yard and wouldnt let people out of their car until we were close. The female was real friendly. Took the male coon hunting one time but he would shred them up real bad if they ran down the tree.

well seeing as the dalmation was used to guard carriages, hence the name carriage dogs. its easy to see why they are aggresive. the whole fire dept thing is the real deal. back in the old days the firefighters would leave a dalmation at the station while they were out so nobody would break in. they are prone to alot of problems but i took care of one for a local shelter and he had some interest in pigs but didnt know what to do once he got into the pen.

from what i understand there are strains of dalmation that have GSP blood in them to add more hunt to them

My son got bit by one when he was in high school. He was in town with a friend and the police have to investigate all dog bites. They told me that dalmatians were no 1 when it came to biting people, followed by rots, and then chows.

My neighbor has a couple of them and has had them for years. Every one I have ever seen is nuttier than squirrel crap.

I grew up with one as a pet.  She was one of the smartest dogs I've ever been around.  It's my understanding that they have an uncanny ability to dart in and out of wagon wheels and horse hooves without being trampled and they are supposed to help keep horses calm.  This is supposed to be why they were chosen by fire fighters.  My uncle had the sister to our dog and it was crazy as hell, but I always attributed that to my uncle rather than the dog.

Read that they were used as war dogs to guard the borders of Dalmatia.
