Not sure if the title really makes sense but I was wondering if anyone else has ever went through this or if it's just coincidence.  Ive got a pup thats a little over a year and it seems anytime i take him out regardless of what dog I pair him with we always end up in a long race.  Sometimes with a hog at the end and sometimes not.  I carried him out last night and ended up in the truck following county roads trying to head them off more than anything.  I guess it could be coincidence and the hog wouldve run that far regardless but im not sure.   Just wondering if anyone else has been through this.

Is he breaking the bay or running the hog making the other dogs have to go farther to Bay. But also I have put a pup with a shorter range dog and got more range Out of him cause the pup would go out with him instead of being by hisself.

He's never broken a bay before so I don't think that is it but he is definitely the fastest dog I own.

Alot of times two dogs will pair up and just flat out leave the country running absolutely nothing. It's like it's almost a race to them to see who can run further.  I've seen dogs pair up and run over hog sign to just leave the country, it's aggravating.

Catch em up and knock the fleas off them with a lead rope and send em back in where you think there oughta be some hog sign.

Lol it's funny becuase it's true!

This is an often overlooked part of hog dogging. Just becuase some dogs are getting real far gone don't ALWAYS mean their doing any good.

Amen! I've never owned one (thank you lord!) but heard about dogs just blowing out of the box and not stopping. Got to be aggravating! Especially when you know there's good sign close by!

It takes lots patience dealing with young dogs.  Sometimes they figure it out, sometimes they don't. Split them up and make em hunt on their own, or try and send one this way, wait alil bit and send another a different way.  Just gonna take a bunch of hogs and a few whippings, that's what's worked for me.
