the trouble with the rivers in texas is that unlike other states most if not all of it on either side is leased or privately owned . i know up around dallas and down through kaufman it is any way . i talked to the trinity river authority on this subject a few years ago and that is what they told me . it's kinda like the guadalupe  you can float down it all day long , but you better not get out of your canoe .

I would like to take em out on the boat n get to my spot then offload n go.  This place is north of livingston.  What kind of permits are needed, i heard it was a lot of private property and no one is supposed to run it with dogs.  But, if it's fair game, as soon as i get over this knee hooplah it will be ON!!! Duck hunted this place for years and wardens havent said anything bout that yet.....

if somebody else owns the ground then a guy ought to have permission before he sends a dog on it .

ueah i used to coon hunt on the trinity most my life south of dallas but as with every thing else the few bad apples got it shut down for the real hunters . heck we had free range all over them bottoms for years then when they shut it down they  shut it down hard lol but if you can find out whom has it leased or owns it in that area it's good hunting  there are good hogs on that river from where it starts all the way to the gulf lol

All that north of Livingston is private land, prison land and the TRA owns all the islands... and they don't allow any hog hunting.

Yep, and everything south of it is privately owned or state land too. Sorry no such luck friend. There's nowhere to hunt on the trinity anywhere within a two hour drive of Houston. Bummer.

Funny spoke to the game warden about this about a month ago it is highly illegal and will earn you a trip straight to jail and chances are you arent getting your dogs back so wouldnt try it.

hmmm.........well i guess its SOL for the river runnin.  No sir i will not turn out dogs without permission from a landowner, good way to lose everything i have and never be able to hunt again ever.  Don't want to risk that, just curious about the river.  Got a small patch of land that butts up to 7000 ac, the lady wont let anyone hunt it or ride horses on it.  She doesnt do anything with it, no cows, just lives on a tiny piece of it and i watch hogs all the time, and as tempting as it is, i just trap and shoot em when they wander off her place. Her place, she can do what she wants  Undecided  Mike: ok, ya, it was that prison land too that i heard about.  Got a few runnin places, just was tryin to find a new spot or 2.  Thanks yall!!!!!   Grin

I have spoke to the game wardens and trinity river park rangers at the locks in wallisville right before anahuac! The part of the marsh right off Ih-10 before and after the trinity you have to have a permit! But I had a permit an they took it an now are saying that they don't know if they will extend permits to the public anymore! Now if you own land or have permission from a person that owns land IN the marsh then you can hunt the body of land that your property connects to! So if you don't have written permission to hunt the marsh I wouldn't cuz one day you will b caught and you will loose everything you are using to hunt that moment!
