I just wanted everyone to know that we have begun the planning stages for the 2013 wild hog roundup.  We will open up  a new section on our forum in early November and ofcourse anyone who wants to reply here can and i will be on here more often for questions.

The dates will be March 1st-3rd in Halletsville, tx as it has been in the past.

Please refer any suggestions, comments, or ideas to me by PM or repost.  We are in very early stages of planning and i will continue to update as things get hammered out.  We have some new things coming in this year!!!

Those who had to choose between Los Cazadores and the TDHA hunt will not have to do so this year.  Were looking forward to another good hunt and hope to have a good turn out.

yes mike i believe it surely did or i know it did because a lot of teams closer to me really wanted to hunt both.  They are now supporting us and we are glad to support or help them anyway we can.

There was a big push by Bayed solid and Brian "pigman" to make the dates different so that they could have there contest at los cazadores and they are planning something new for the TDHA hunt.

Most importantly right now is the planning on what type of hunt (dead or alive) we will do this year.

I am happy to say though i have brought up a new idea and am hoping it all works out.  I am pushing for a coon hunt contest to go on at the same time as the hog contest.  Very early thoughts but its looking good and getting good feed back.

Thanks Mike,
Matt

We have decided that instead of trying to run two in one and knowing how many people run both types of dogs, that we are going to have a coon hunt on its own held by TDHA a few months after the hog hunt.  Don't qoute me on this yet but this is a plan we have and would like to see this work.  I will report back on this after we get through the planning stages of the hog hunt.  I personally really want this to work out as we are about protecting and promoting the rights of all dog hunting.  Not just hog hunting.

We had to go through a lot of discussion and talking to the right people and eventually get voted through, but we are moving back to a field harvested (dead) hunt.  We are currently working with a charity in the Texas region to have the pigs donated.  The hunt was orignally intended to feed the hungry and replenish TDHA lobbying and legal funds and that is what we have decided to go back too.  We will have a full page announcement with rules, regulations, and such coming very soon.

Good things in store this year.  More buckles, good cash prizes, and good competition.  I hunt these competitions all over myself and i feel the committee involved in the planning is doing everything they can to make this hunt as good as it can be and give everyone a level playing field to compete.

thanks to all who plan to support TDHA to enable us to fight for "our" rights in the dog hunting world.

Thanks Matt! Yes we are very sorry the dates conflicted with this hunt last year as we dont want anyone to have to choose which one to hunt. We will be backing this hunt this year and look forward to hunting in it as well. We appreciate all you guys do for the sport1 Let us know what we can do to help...

Scott, it is against the law to donate field dressed hogs to feed the hungry. No reason to waste the meat, so live hog contest it will be.

Since when and where is law that states this?

How do groups like Hunters Harvest and Hunters for the Hungry get by with donating thousands of pounds of wild game every to feed the hungry?

The hogs from this contest have always been taken, processed and then distributed... not handed out in a field dressed condition...

Feral hogs are not "wild game" and require a pre-mortum inspection before slaughter. They are treated exactly like domestic swine under the law. Hunters Harvest will not/can not accept field dressed hogs from our contest. Feel free to read the USDA regulations on this topic, I have read them all, many times looking for a way to donate field dressed hogs and there is no legal way to do it.

You can add another to that list. Would like to enter, but don't have a place to hold or way to transport live hogs.
