Yep the yeller blood is why the brindle dogs are as good as they are... Sure aint hearing anybody say they're super dogs came from spotted mutts... Hmmmm.   Wink

All the "super dogs" I've been around have come from from spotted mutts. Wink

I haven't seen a yella "super dog" yet.

Well if they did come from spotted dogs, either no one is mentioning it or doesn't want to admit it!!!  Grin

So far its been good brindles coming from yellers or the other way around plus some hound here and there...
But hey that's fine!!

Do a little research and you will find out mikes tweety dog was straight catahoula. Twittlebanks Wink i only got to hunt with her in her last years but even in her old crippled  state  she was better than any yeller dog i have seen to date.

Well peachy, did she have any Spots?Huh?   NO!!!!

Them heeled specks on her chest don't count....  Cheesy

Ha ha... Tweety was no super dog, just a solid, hard hunting one that produced a lot of hogs for us.

I'd like to own a super dog or two one day.

You will never learn...

You HEARD she was spotted and I've never heard anything about her so maybe there is a reason for that...  Grin

But I will say, I've noticed that several dogs you have been getting ain't spotted and the ones I've been getting ain't yeller... So maybe there's a reason for that too!!  Wink

I guess I've hijacked this thread enough... No telling how bad it would have gotten if I said some of them came from some hard baying Dogos... But that could be true since they are hounds ya know!!

No not yet. I'm sure someone on here will know for sure. My knowledge is 2nd and 3rd hand at times. That's why it has taken a while to figure some old dogs out, but we are slowly piecing everything together. Erik had told me he thought Festus was out of CB. If anything its beginning to show how all these lines are more intertwined than people originally thought

@ cward, Their just old cow dogs. My Grandfather and Great Uncle were just old school cowboys. They grew up with and were friends with a man named Buster Moore ( don't know wether you know him or not ) but he lived in Huntsville . They swapped and bred dogs back and forth in the 50's and 60's and there's still some of that blood in them today but it's hard to say how much. Most of the recent blood added has all been from around Leon County which has some good dogs, except my Daisy gyp which is out of a dog I got from Gerald Hightower from Huntsville who has some good dogs and can tell you every dog in his line for the last 50 yrs. The only dogs you might recognize would be Joe, C.O. and Leggs blood from Cole McVeay. They have been talked about some on here. I've added some of that blood. I've got two pups that I really like that I got from TexasHogDogs with heavy Joe blood. I've always liked those dogs and I plan to take mine more in that direction. The black saddleback gyp in the first pic was give to me by my friend Randy Bumpers before he died, she was a littermate to Cole McVeay's good dogs Lanky and Sissy and TexasHogDogs Deets dog, she was a good dog. Their mainly just good old curs that work good on cows or hogs.

Not a problem I like learning the lines yall use hopefully one day I'll be able to have some dogs I can look back on fondly and contribute more but the lines I have are no where near the caliber of the dogs you guys speak of. Hopefullyone day ill get there

Hogsnatcher, we all have to start somewhere. Its like crawling before walking, it take time, even them spotted n striped dogs are east tx cur dogs.

I think these would be considered ETCs, but I like to call em Texas Boar Hounds!  Grin They are out of Fred (1/2 Cat x 1/4 BMC x 1/8 Plott 1/8 Greyhound) x Soka (100% Plott). I have high hopes for this litter! She had 9!

LMAO! That's why I call em Texas Boar Hounds!  Cool That is the first of many pairings to come. We have the set up now to have some pretty good crosses coming up. So get ready! I want to get as much of Fred's blood on the ground while he is still around hunting hard.

Thanks bud. I guess we'll see what we get... They could just turn out to make someone really good pets, but I very seriously doubt that!

Found this old thread and thought id bring it back to life after a fun weekend of hunting with some guys that got me into the addiction of the sport. I was with Jeff Sullivan , Will bracewell and my uncle Terry Winfrey whose dad was wee man winfrey and grandad was Tom Winfrey. Jeff has an entire yard of dogs that tie into  old linebred dogs from terry and his family and some with a twist of CB, some of his dogs, and a few other East texas dogs. Just took a few pics of some  that i was inpressed with
