What wormers are safe for pregnant females?  I normally use ivomec and safe guard, would I be safe to stay on that program?

I've always given mine Strongid paste while they were pregnant... about as much as you'd put on your toothbrush, once a month. I wouldn't give them any ivermectin while pregnant or nursing.

Don't know if this is right or wrong, but i never had any problems.

I definately would not give Ivermectin during pregnancy. I did that with Dott's first litter of pups. There was one with limb deformitie's. The vet said it was probably the Ivermectin that caused it. The pup had to be put down.

Go to the vet , worm the pups at two weeks and worm the mother with the same as he gives you for the pups , it doesn't take a office visit charge , tell them the weights of the pups and the momma , they will fix you up

Take a look at Nemex II.  Safe for puppies and lactating bitches.  I think it can be used during pregnancy in small amounts.

yeah Nemex is a good one  . but I have had quite a few litters and have just kept them on their regular worm routine with ivomect and safeguard or valbazen and I has of yet had any problems with the gyps or pups .  we wormed the cattle and pigs with the ivomect while they were prego all the time without any harm .  but if you are unsure consult a vet .

this wormer can be used on pregnant females and week old pups...but you pay 8 dollars to treat 100 pounds of dog (Nemex II) or you can buy the paste for horses that worms 1200 pounds for 8 dollars and it is the same stuff just concentrated...and it is pretty forgiving if you give a little extra...in other words pretty safe to use...STRONGID...a yellow paste...
