The ones I've used on cows and hogs were mostly super rough dogs but they also had alot of cur in them but most of the catch came from the airdale blood. You did'nt need a catch dog. I've seen alot of really good airdale crosses, I have'nt seen a pure airdale in years. One thing I've noticed about airdales is that they don't get cut as much as a slick haired dog.

That airdale blood makes them rough. But in my opinion the long hair does help with cuts. Hogs bite the hair and think they have skin.

Full blood.  Short range hunts hard and good nose. Good personality and gets along with every dog he's met.   Downfalls for me- he is large and hyper.  He is straight catch no bark.  Hard headed

Some good looking dogs. I really like the way they are built. Looks like they can move but not frail.
