and it pisses me of when people say, " oh your not going to vote for obama bc he is black"

this is when i reply i dont care if he is a rep. or dem. if our president is a women or a man IDC is he is BLACK PURPLE PINK OR WHITE! as long as he gets our country out of debt and gets people off welfare bc they are lazy and need to get a damn job and work like the rest of the people in country do.

this is when these people walk off bc im turning red from being pissed.

I might not know much about politics but i sure as hell know that obama hasnt helped us the last few years but he has hurt our country and deplted our value and is going to take our rights away its only just a matter of time before we are going to be controlled by the govenment
pray for our country bc its going down hill!

Every aspect of our lives are controlled by some form of government. On that note, its time prune the tree of liberty before that tree is cut down n burned in the white house, senate and congress

That strikes me as wrong.  There are, according to the census bureau, 237 million people in the U.S. over the age of 18.  There were 117 million votes cast.  That is 49% of the population.  Yeah, those numbers seem off.

While I am an economic conservative, I am a liberal on social issues.  I support both of these issues.  I think this is where Republicans run into trouble.  Too often they think being conservative means you have to be conservative on every possible issue.

I don't care who you have sex with, as long as they are old enough for consent and do.  I look at it this way.  I'm not going to have sex with you or them  (whether you/they are male or female)  ...  so why should it matter to me.

I think marijuana should be legal.  I don't smoke it  ...  but why should I care if you do.  I see it like alcohol.  Partake, no problem.  But you are responsible for your actions when it has impacted your decision making that impacts society.

If only 49% of the population voted, and it broken down by race, ONLY 72% of the whites voted. Ur conclusion could be wrong and biased.

I think I found the numbers.  I think the reference was to % of each race that voted, not the population.  USA Today has a breakdown.  72% of the "white" vote, voted for Romney.  92% of the "black" vote voted for Obama.  70% of the hispanic vote voted for Obama.  73% of the asian vote voted for Obama.

Some may have voted for or against Obama because of his race.  But I don't think that was the dominant issue.  Most people don't vote "for" a presidential candidate.  Most vote "for" a party alignment or "against" the other candidate  ...  and that is usually because of actions or positions they have taken.  I know I have done the latter many times over the years.

RL while I agree with some of your liberal views on social issues and I guess by extension other social liberals. I also don't for a second believe that any democrat has a viable economic plan for the country. There has for years been an unspoken don't ask don't tell agreement that yes gay unions do happen we ignore it and they go about there business. So I don't understand voting with liberals for there need to legalize certain activities that are largely overlooked when the most pertinent crisis in America is the economic one. Now I'm not sure there's a politician alive who can repair our economy, but do you honestly believe Obama can repair our economy? If so, why?

I don't think we need to over-react to one post.  People are always emotional after an election.  Since most presidential elections are close to 50/50 splits  ...  there are always lots of people frustrated by the results.  Sometimes in frustration we say things that are not necessary.

There are many posters on this forum who do not support either Obama or the democratic party and their lack of support has nothing to do with race and is based on their view of the direction Obama or the Ds want to proceed.  That is legitimate.  So let's not let one post cast a negative light on those who disagree with the election results.

I agree with your statement.  I don't think the Ds have a viable, cohesive, understandable economic plan.  But I don't think the Rs do either.  They have a plan, less spending, less taxes  ...  but the debt has always gone up when they have control.  So I think their plan is simplistic and they don't really take it seriously.  Both parties frustrate me.

I agree with the jist of this statement too.  If they would just ignore it when campaigning then I would be fine with that.  Unfortunately, the Rs tend to move (logically and reasonably) to the right in order to survive the primaries  ...  and in doing so make these issues an election topic.  Once they are elected, by and large they do ignore them.  But during the election cycle, it does have an impact.

Yes I agree that both parties are extremely frustrating. I firmly believe that career politicians with no or not enough real world experience is the problem. Education is great it's helped me greatly, but real world experience is the other half of wisdom. Our society as a whole I believe is in disrepair. Too much entitlement not enough work ethic. I felt compelled to vote for Romney based on the fact that My career is in the oil and gas field and I believe Obamas energy initiatives are not viable in the present.
