I had a cat x bmc gyp get ripped open on her flank lat week. Between her leg stretching out, and her constant habit of chewing staples, shes getting close to the end of her repetitive care. I cleaned it with idodine and vetricyn the night it happened, stapled her the night it happened, the next day, and touch up staples ever couple of days since. Shes contiguously chewing them out, im just leaving her alone, is there any way to keep the wound healing, even if its left open?? I tryed the whole "Wrapping it and chili powder thing, apperently there putting peanut butter in chili powder now days because she ate the bandage and all, and then ate the chewed the staples out agin... Never quite seen a gog eat a whole roll of vet wrap. lol Thanks for the help guys.

Put one of those plastic cones around her neck.  She want be able to reach any part of her body with her mouth.

I have seen 2" by 7" cuts that cut heal did the trick...spray on 2 or 3 times a day...I choose to do it the easy way...

Use the plastic cone on the head.  Sucks for the dog, but it is the best thing in the long run.

I do hydrotherapy on all my cut up mutts and it always works for let the water just run over the cut for 5-10 minutes 2-3 times a day and vetericyn really speeds up the process

Staple her up again, and put a plastic e-collar on her until the cut is healed. Shouldn't be long. The e-collar works wonderfully. She's gonna slow the healing process if ya don't get an e-collar on her. That's what I would do anyway.
