Are either of these really "pit"bulls? Are they derived from game dogs or are they really just bulldogs? I wasn't born in time to see the true game dogs but from what I can find there were no blue pits back then anyway. And I can't imagine the bully's being able to compete with a 55-60 lb game pit. Anybody

There are still some game dogs around but you will have to look hard. They are not over advertised or not true dogs anyways.  I searched for many hours and talked to lots of people to find the dog I have now.  He is perfect for what I was looking for a larger game bred dog.  Gamedog forums is good there is also a couple face book pages with them.  Weight pull is another place to look.  The down side of them is the aggression issues.

Well im not a fan of blue pits. I had to go get two pits caught on a horse they were game dogs. There was a 3rd dog there a blue bully he was just watching and we did not pick him up. So was he as gamey as the other two no he was not. Will they catch yes they do. But I like the real game dogs myself. To me there is a huge difference.

Easttex, I like many other on here did not care at all for blue bulldogs until I acquired one.......I girl my old lady knows had a pit in an apartment and the landlord said it had to go, My ol lady asked I i was interested and I said y not until she said it was a blue pit........I said nevermind I don't want it.........long story short she ended up at my house............She has been as good a catch dog as any I have had and is on pace to be better..........she is built well can flat out fly and HATES a hog.....best part is she can wind a hog off my 4wheeler as good as my currs and by her 3rd time in the woods knew 100% what she was there for and blazes to the bay.....

She changed my opinion on blue bulldogs, I hope to have here for a long long time. she has been A great dog to me and my family and is pretty durn smart.

Blue has popped up back in some older working bred lines, as someone else has already mentioned.

As for the modern day 'blue dogs' or 'american bullies' as some are called......most of those dogs have mastiff of sorts in them. All easty westy, smooshed in wrinkled faces, sloppy sway backs, weak hips, rediculously massive heads......

Now there ARE a FEW blue dogs out there that are decent looking and capable of working/catching, I've seen this myself, but they are few and far between.

I can't stand the term 'pit' any way. It ain't pre 1976 anymore, so technically 'pit' bulls don't exist. They're bulldogs to me.

I have a blue bulldog myself and Mrs Louisiana can testify he's a solid hard catching dog with a great  anyone that's hunted with me has said the same thing about him and were very happy with is performance. But he's I'd not a bully breed bulldog

I don't doubt that they can catch I just don't think they're "pit"bulls. I'm kind of a history nerd I guess and I'd hate for us to lose pitbulls or game dogs anymore than we already have.

I don't believe that they are not pitbulls, however they are deff. not "game bred" pitbulls..........pitbulls as a breed have greatly evolved in the last 100yrs............to me the "blues and bullies" are pretty much designer dogs but when you see a good blue dog hit there is no doubt that they are still a pitbull. DJhogdogger's has one also named blue that catches great and I can't complain about mine other than her lack of overall size.

Just because the dog is blue doesnt mean anything. Its like saying all brindle cur dogs wont hunt.... I have personally tried and culled several black, red, white, and other colored "pitbulls" because they curled up in the corner of a pen when a 100lb hog came after them.  As far as the bullies go thats is simply for money, nothing more.

my buddy had a white and blue color male probably about 40lbs wet, the dog came from atlanta and yes he would roll em...he as well had other "colors"  of pits and his words to me where "that's my go to dog"....but as far as bullies and other larger blues being game?Huh? i dont think so. yes you can catch hogs with them but "game" is a very large word when you are referring it with pits..

I have a white and blue pit about 40-45lbs and he is a dang go catch dog hit hard and hold. I just got rid of a black and white pit that looked like the old game style dog and he didn't catch near as good as my lil white and blue dog and the black dog re gripped and tried ti fight the hog more then catch. I would put a pic up on my blue dog but I can't off my phone  he's built like a lil BRICK SH*# HOUSE!!!
