I have the same opinion with bob tail dogs that I do with hairless cats and buck toothed chickens.

I like a 5-6 inch bob tail on all my cur dogs...but I want them born with a long tail...sometimes that is hard to breed because a dog with a normal tail can be missing one vertebrae at the end of the tail and this dog will throw bob tailed pups and this dog appears to be a long tailed dog...
I do know that the tails can get shorter and shorter until some pups will be born with spinal bifida...some folks say that bob tailed dogs can't ran as well as a long tailed dog...I think in some cases it is true but I have had some fast natural bob tailed dogs...

If you will start bobbing your pups tails in two generation later the pups will be born half tailed three generations they will be born full Bob tailed.

Does it bother them any.. this may sound dumb but does a natural bob tail dig have mire balance then a dog with a dock tail?

My natural half tail n the 2 i kept that i bobbed dont show any signs of no tail bothering them. They nvr had a tail so it would b like a natual bob nvr being born with a tail.

Have you ever noticed how a dog will lay on it's tail in cold weather. That is because it helps to keep them warm because the blood is close to the skin and there is alot of blood traveling through the tail. The tail also helps to cool them. It's kind of like pouring cold water on the back of your neck or on your wrist to help cool down when you are really hot. The tail also helps with balance but I don't think it affects their balance if they grow up without a tail. I don't mind a bob tail dog but if their born with a tail then I leave it.

Hey bud 7 of my Freak pups were born natural bobtails, pretty cool I thought. As far as speed the fastest most agile dog on my yard is a natural bobtail, and the second fastest hardly even has a tail naturally. So in my opinion it makes no difference.
