Concept is good, does the barrels rotate with the dogs?

No, the barrels dont rotate. There is a 18" piece of chain around the post, conected with a quick link and swivel to the 15' of chain....i'm hoping it wont tangle, should just move freely with the dog

I once saw a neat photo of the military dog housing in the snow. It was the same setup except a metal posy( 4" pipe) with a wood wine barrell on top. The 4 " pipe post had a solid metal ring around the bottom that was abou 6 or 7 inches with the chain connected to that so it could always move freely around the post and their water buckets hung up high on the side of the barrell like yours so they could never knock it over. I like the setup up because in a cleared area there is no end to the amount of chain or running space you could give a dog if there is nothing around for them to tangle in. Nice work!!

I could see myself using that concept. I like the clean look to it, and the barrel being raised up. But with my bulldogs I'd have to have an actual regular chain, with an o-ring at the post, along with cold shuts and swivels. My bulldogs would pop that chain there within 2 minutes.

Looks good. I have the same barrells for dog houses but unfortunately I had to pull all my chain spots up and switch to kennels because of the antitethering ban in my county in FL. What a crock my dogs have less room to roam but the anti's got their way. next it will be the kennels.

Yeah, im in florida too. These are till i can get my new pens built. I'm hoping i wont have any trouble with animal control till then. I think its something like they cant be chained unattended between 8-5...or something like that

Yeah I dunno what county you are in but in Hillsborough county they can't be chained longer than 15 minutes and they have to be supervised while on a chain. It's a crock of number 2 IMO. They should fine the people that are not chaining properly a proper chain setup is better than most pens.

Here is a pipe one. We used these for our bird dogs when I was growing up in TX. Drill stem T, and this one just has some flat bar welded under it and bolted to barrel front and back. Cemented about 2' in ground. This one is a little to high. I have a Pit on it now, and he hasn't quite figured it out yet. Some were asking about a ring. I used a big round metal ring, about 8" diameter. I had always seen these rings, but never knew what they were. Turns out, it is a high pressure valve gasket used in the oil field. Got them from a buddy. It looks like stainless, and has rounded edges. Cold shut on it to secure chain, swivel and thread link straight to ring on collar. No snap. Took a bit of tangling to get the grass worn down, but it wasn't too bad. Building some more this week.

Did they pass that recent in Hillsborough? I was born/raised in Tampa. Workes as a vet tech and for HCAS. They didn't have that crap in place when I was there. I been over here in LA now for the past 3yrs or so so I'm out of the loop.
