I dont even get to hunt these tournaments but really what pbrain comes up with the idea of banning barrs anyway. Hogs a hog sow boar Barr doesn't matter. Dogs still have to bay it still gotta catch it and get it tied. No less work than one still intact. Hopefully the places the person that came up with this idea gets to hunt will be loaded with them so easy to catch barrs and will find out how easy to catch they are.

Better hope they're easy to catch.

The rules are being changed to compliment mediocre dog work and poor sportsmanship, so I'd hate for em to get on a bad hog.  Heck the ones the rules are getting changed for may not even be able to enter a hog if they get on any bad ones.

Heck I was thinking about dropping a trailer load of barrs out on their hunting spots day before the contest... Since they just stay right there like cows anyways!!  Grin

But then again, a HOG dog shouldn't be bayin no tame Barr anyways... That's almost as bad as catching a skunk...  Tongue

I have no interest in this post myself but was browsing down threw the thread and had to say a word about Jody and his dogs and resources .

Texas,  I know Jody pretty well and the dogs he hunts and the Buddy's he hunts and most of his resources  hell I have hunted with his dogs myself .  I can tell you first hand he does not hunt the torments much are at all but I can assure you it is at his on choice and not because of the lack of dogs are resources .  I don't hunt torments myself don't like them never will don't like big crowds myself and to many ways to cheat and to much brother in lawin going on but thats just my opinion .  To each his on.

I will say what I know as fact about Jody and his dogs and resources.

Just because a man is quite and may not have a big name does not mean in any way he has lesser dogs are lesser resources to hunt as a matter of fact these are the kinds of people and their dogs that will hand a person pride back to them in a brown paper bag.

Sounds like you got called to me I could not believe it when I saw it because this is not Jody's nature at all LOL.  Noting wrong with that all I can say is  just come with a double A game because when it is over "win loose are draw" am sure you are going to have a new respect for Jody and his dogs and resources.

Hope nobody takes this the wrong way but just giving Texas a heads up on a quite Ole country boy packing some damn nice dog hardware !

The one thing Jody didn't mention from our conversation was this...

"It takes a lot of resources to hunt multiple tournaments...."
And I discussed that lots of hunters have a difficult time composing all the resources to ACTUALLY compete on a multi-tournament level.  The resources we discussed were
1) dogs
2) land to hunt
3) hogs
4) money

And most importantly, what Jody and my conversation included (also emphasized) was
5) TIME!!!!

These are serious logistic issues that hunters all face.  If we all had Infiniti resources, we could all participate.  But by reviewing the requirements, we are able to lessen the burden and that fosters more involvement!  That's what my point of the conversation was.  And my inquiry into his personal situation was to learn more about him, find out what constraints keep him from entering, and work through those issues to see if there was a way in which he could possible participate in the Trail.

That's the main thought process behind my decisions on format.  How can I create a larger contestant base???  You guys are still looking at one little detail and not the complexity of the overall obstacles.

It takes time that we would lose if our dogs got on a running barr hog that we could not get back.

6). Hunting rig / Equipment

Hog dogging on the road requires proper transportation both in the field and on the highway.  Proper care for all your dogs is essential.  Proper handling of hogs is also a technicality.

7). Helpers

Extra set of hands is also an important resource when traveling on a team.

TEXASJ    Now your talking about yourself. You hated on turning in barrs. Fancy rigs and money don't find hogs. Jody calls you out and all you can talk about is your rig. So what, put all that money behind your dog's. Let's see if you have what it take.

Guys,
This thread is supposed to be a discussion about the Gator Country hunt, not a who's is bigger pissing contest...

I understand that people are frustrated, but chest pounding, and breaking out rulers won't help anything... A respectable dialogue will go much further.

It would be a conflict on interest if I entered.  I believe the word is "coersion".

I entered last year but that was only because there were hardly any entries!

Sounds like even less entries this year.

Mike, Cward since this trail seems to be falling apart why not just start your own?  Sounds like yall will already have plenty of support.

** Side note **  I have never hunted a tourney so don't really have a dog in the fight.  I would like to start hunting a couple and enjoy the sport and a lil friendly competition at the same time.  I don't mean to ruffle any feathers but I don't see the issue with barrs but I do see an issue with taking action against all of your supporters.  If you go out of your way to continue to flat out piss off all the people who hunt in HDTT then it probably won't last much longer...just my 2 cents.
