I'd like to hear from some guys that have stoppers. What breed are they? Crosses? Full Blood? Male? Female? Now I'm not talkin bout RCD's or just rough dogs that try and catch everything. I'm talkin bout dogs that will sit a hog down and then back off and bay.

Comin up I was around hunters that had Sho nuff butt chewers. As of right now i have two sisters hunting, they show promise and they SHOULD end up being ruff dogs, which is fine but they may even end up catchy, which i really don't want. I can't really say I have a dog hunting right now that's a butt chewer, but I DO have a brother sister pair I'm gonna be puttin in the woods come February that have shown me what I'm lookin for in this category.

Tell me about 'em Ladies and Gentlemen.

we always called it brakes.  but it sure is a cool thing to watch i have oned two gyps at differant times that would sure nuff
bit one in the butt in then jump back in bay.
i watched one gyp bay a boar one night for about an hour just to see how long she could hold him
it was like she was playing with him. the hog could not touch her.
yea i think stoppers w/ bottom is the best kind to hunt

I use dogs that stop the hog by catching it. They might have to fight the hog alittle bit to get them in the right position to catch, but they are Stoppers !!!

Yup he wanted to catch him bad,  smaller hogs like that he will most the time catch bigger boar hogs he is backed off but still tight  till they one takes off then its just like he done it in that video .  I got a really really good video of a big big boar hog  but I cannot remember the damn password to get to it .  If I do I will put it on here one of my favorites we ever took.

Not the same. I'm talkin bout sit em down and bay dogs. It's the experience I want. I want to see the dogs work, not just run to a squeal every time. Just different styles.

Dogs that continue to just harrass the hog and bite and let go will make the hog break as you saw in the video. Yes they stopped him again but he was a small hog. Bigger ones will just run off.

Maybe I didn't make my statement clear originally. I'm talking about a dog that, once the hog is bayed (sets up for the first time), the dog/s will sit back and bay until the hog tries to break. At that point the dog will put teeth to ham, make the hog set up again and back up and bay. I got nothing against your dogs or your style of hunting, it's just not what I want.

As for bigger ones running off, nah....big hog, small hog, makes no difference with the kind of dog I'm talking about. If a dog grabs a boar hog by the nuts he's gonna stop running, spin and fight. Can't convince me otherwise. I've seen it to many times.
