While feeding my dogs today I noticed one of my sisters (1 yr old Cat/Red Bone/Pitt) had an eye issue.
Her Right eye is totally Grey/Blue like cataract looking or something. Wasn't like that yesterday. There IS something right in the middle of her eye. Possibly like a scratch or poke but I can't be sure. Hunted her last weekend but didn't notice anything unroll today.
Any experiences with this discoloration/film?

I have a female dog like this in both eyes. took her to the vet and he said it was hepatitis eye, from an infection. he also said it would either get better or she would die. she hasn't died yet and doesn't look like she is,after 6 months she looks healthy as ever just both eyes are clouded.

Had a dog hit a fence caught him in the eye with a barb. It glassed over like you say turned real dark and never turned back. Don't think he could see out of it but never bothered him.

Is she blind in that eye?

Do you still hunt him?

Sounds like a corneal ulceration. Can be cause by bein poked, or a foreign body getting in the eye. Gotta get that seen by a vet to get the proper eye drops to shrink it down, or it could potentially cause blindness in that eye if left untreated.

That's the plan ma'am. Tried today after I noticed it but they were closed. Will get her there next week.

My old dog had a cloudy eye before i lost him....Think it came from a scuffle protecting his girlfriend here in the yard......

Hey Kevin, do u know anyone that has any eye ointment neo poly bac or anyone that has been treated for pink eye and has left over eye antibiotics to use just until u can get to vet. I've got antibiotic eye drops if ya need them and can't find anyone closer.

I wouldn't worry to much about not being able to hunt her after she her eye problem is resolved. A good dog will hunt with one eye just as well as with 2 in my opinion. I have hunted behind at least 3 that I can think of with only 1 eye and it never slowed them down. Hell i've hunted behind a few dogs that only had 3 legs and they still got it done, dogs are some tough animals. I would just concentrate on the short term right now, getting that eye took care of whether it be trying to get it cleared up with drops and fixed or just preventing infection and letting it heal how it may. good luck and I hope its not too bad.

Thanks for y'all's replies. Bella's eye was actually a little better today. Still a little milky but not near as bad. Gonna give it a couple days and see what happens.

Bella's eye is 98% clear. Just a little speck of milky blue. Must have been a scratch/poke. Doing alot better.
