Valbazin has never killed tape worms in my dogs even though the label says it does. I started using equimax to get rid of tapes.

I just tried a wormer called vibrantel, comes in pill form supposed to get both type of tapes, hooks and couple types of round worms. And supposed to be good for 3 months. But just started using it so don't know how well it works just yet.

Vet problem carries it, but I think you can get it cheaper online.

i just ordered something called D-worm. it has both the praziquantel 114mg and Pyrantel 114 mg per pill and there are 12 pills for $50. Dogs over 50lbs need 2 pills. I am going to try it to knock them out and then on a different worming routine of ivomec and strongid paste.

If I'm not mistaken thats the same ingredients in vibrantel but a lot cheaper. That should take care of the tape worms.

Got a question ? Do you have to eliminate the flea problem to completely eliminate the tape worm problem?

to answer your question jimco yes and no lol if you dogs have tapes they expell those little moving parts in fresh dog poo . they pieces of worms kinda wave back and forth like a cobra . when the are doing this movement those little worm segments are spewing out eggs . the fleas will ingest these tapeworm eggs and the dogs don't get them from flea bites but rather when the dogs are grooming and licking and biting at fleas the dogs will ingest fleas and the tapeworm eggs and start repeating the cycle . so actually if your ground is clean and your new crop of fleas don't have accsess to worm eggs they won't transmit tapes , but then you hunt with your buddies wormy dogs and their fleas jump on your dog , well you get it lol

If you just want to get the tapes, its probly cheaper to buy straight praziquantel or however its spelled. You can order them online. The fish tapeworm pills are the way to go. The vibrantel pills are 10-15 bucks a pill, the D-worm is about half that. Bout as broad as it is long I guess, cause you'll still have to use the stongid or whatever you use.
